Jackson Hole man attempts to raffle $753,000 home

Associated Press

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — A Jackson Hole man is attempting to raffle off his $735,000 home after it languished on the market for more than a year.

National Park Service firefighter Brad Bradley is selling $100 raffle tickets in advance of the Oct. 1 raffle.

The nonprofit Jackson Hole Volunteer Firefighters Association is administering the raffle. A publicist says ticket sales will be limited to 15,000 but at least 10,000 must be sold for the raffle to take place.

Bradley plans to move to Virginia for a new job, but selling his 3-bedroom home proved to be a challenge because of the tight credit market and Jackson Hole's depressed real estate market.

Bradley's goal is to break even on his mortgage, cover the winners' closing costs and resulting federal income taxes, and donate the remaining funds to charity.

The four charities that will benefit are the Jackson Hole Volunteer Firefighters Association, The American Outdoor Academy, the Boy Scouts' Philmont Staff Association and the Jackson Hole Community Counseling Center.

Haz, this is all I could find.

Lottery application forms can be downloaded from www.tetonwyo.org/housing/ and must be submitted to the housing authority by Wednesday. A drawing should occur around Feb. 1.

Call 732-0867 for information.

I don't care what the view is, a 1/5 of that price is too much. No wonder he couldn't sell it. Did you look at the video tour? With an appraisal like that,if you did win, what are the property taxes like? No wonder the realestate bubble burst.

Property values must be really steep in Jackson Hole. I'd like to get the thoughts of any Wyoming members.

That would pull down between 100K to 120K tops in East Texas.

I still might buy a ticket for a long shot investment. Heck, if it could fetch 300K in Jackson Hole that's a pretty good return on 100 bucks.
