How old should they be before you introduce them to shooting?
« on: August 14, 2009, 08:47:50 PM »
Well, my 3-1/2 MONTH old grand-daughter got her first pair of muffs today.

Okay.  Okay.  She hasn't acclimated to them just yet.  She will.

Alright, the truth is I wouldn't let her shoot my Gadsden Walther today.  Such a fussy kid.

Alright, the truth is her daddy bought them for her, so they can take her to UGA football games and to UGA band practices.   I figure once she gets use to them, she can go with me to the range.   (in a few years)

Once that kid learns how to count his shots he'll be smooth.

He has all the basic moves down good as he moves from spot to spot ... even the evil buger toward the end  :o

Does anyone know if Julie G's little one is a boy or a girl?  This could be good son-in-law stock if she had a she  ;)

Pretty impressive. The kid has good form, really drives the gun out.

Like Mike said, once the kid is old enough to count and can anticipate a mag change, he'll be pretty slick.

Pretty little granddaughter Alf. Your first?

I couldn't help but notice that the kid was smart enough to NOT come down from the top of a bridge directly onto the ground on his bad knee, too.   ;D

Im introducing my 7 year old to the old ruger .22

he is in that phase when he wants to be like dad, i know its cute and all but i dont want my son to be fighting any wars if you get what i mean.

he is starting to play around the house with his M4 airsoft gun that he bought with his birthday money, i currently not gave him any bb's unless he's with me at the farm.

you hear about all these school shooting and it is questionable as to whether you want to expose them to firearms at such a impressionable age, like watching his dad play at the range with his gun, he will want to do that. if he watches a TV show with a guy running around in public with a M4 then he will want to do that.

i will probably become more active with him and guns when he gets a little older.

Cute kid Alf.  Go pick up a pink Crossman 760 for her first birthday or whatever.  In a two or three years ya'll can be shooting in the back yard, and learning all the basics.  Don't that sound fun?

Right now I'm responsible for all shooting activities with the family, and I've started learning my brothers and sisters at six or seven.  Its the .22 for a couple years, then the bolt actions when they get ready to hunt.  A couple years later when they're to go to the dove field they learn on the shotguns.  Family tradition with my brothers and me, first paycheck of your first job, you go out and buy a rifle. ;D
