Lock n Load - Pistols
« on: August 16, 2009, 12:47:32 PM »
I am sure some of you guys watched it.  What an entertaining episode.  I was digging the functional wheel lock.  Some entertaining things I saw.

-Did you see him fall on his A$$ when he fired the 44 mag.  Gotta watch yoru balance when you shoot that monster.
-The slow-mo of him shooting the 500 was awesome.  What a massive recoil
-My favorite was the slow-mo of him shooting the Glock 18.  If you look closely you can see the polymer frame warp and vibrate.  Its amazing how it does that, but you would never know without slow mo

If any of you guys ever watch time warp on discovery, try to caths the metallica episode... you wouldnt believe how a cymbal warps in extreme slow motion.

Haven't watched this weeks yet.   Did he really fall when he fired the .44?

I'm somewhat fearless, especially after I've fired a T/C (14" barrel) in 45/70.   I figure, I can roll with most any production handgun.

.44mag.....pashah.

He was kneeling to shoot into B/Gel & lost his ballance. Once was enough for the 44 but later he said Igot to have one of these
about the S&W 500.     ???

It was a great show. I love Gunny. I had never heard of the flintlocks predecessor, the wheel lock. Very cool firing mechanism.

I was shocked when Gunny said about the .44 Magnum; "I don't want to shoot that anymore."

I also liked the slow-mo of the S&W Model 500 recoil and the shock wave that went up Gunnys arm. I would prefer to shoot the Model 500 with a long barrel. I'll pass on the 4" model that was used on the show.

My Brother-in-Law has a long barreled 500 that I'm looking forward to shooting. He loves that wheel gun!!!

I would love a Glock 18. Twelve hundred rounds/min.  Yee Haw!!! Gunny made it sound like only LEO and Military can get a Model 18. I would think that anyone with a Class III could pick one up.

My favorite was his version of shooting from horseback.

"Why are you carrying a pistol?  Expecting trouble?"

"No Maam.  If I was expecting trouble, I'd have a rifle."

The S&W .460 Magnum is a little better but the targets/zombies don't know the difference.

Liked the Gunny on the Machine Gun Episode..

Just watched this episode.

Of course he didn't have time to go into single shots (T/C) firing rifle rounds.

For those who can't watch it, he didn't get knocked on his rear by the .44mag.  He was squatting when he shot it into some ballistic gel.  Not being in a great position he did stumble backwards a bit.  Too bad he didn't do the S&W500 into the ballistic gel.  Also, for those who missed it, Jessie Abbot was a featured guest in the last segment.  (That was twice today, that I knew the name of the feature guest and shouted it out......wife wants to know why I know these ladies' names so well........hey, I watch a lot of TV......... it's my job honey......just my job...... nothing else.)

What I did notice is that sometimes he didn't use eye protection in some of the sequences.  And there were a few continuity issues with the editing, but then since I produce videos, I notice those types of things.
