Good! But lets not demonize ACORN in particular. There lots of groups that do this, affilliated with both parties. The deal is this. Groups like PIRG etc have paid canvassers. They get contracts to gather petition signatures to put causes or candidates on the ballot by getting to X number. There are bonuses for timeliness, clean signatures etc. Parties and candidates hire them for voter registration. Theoretically, they aren't being paid per voter registration. Just like an escort isn't being paid for sex. She's just a dinner date. This is one more example of how money works in campaigns. The NRA, unions, environmentalists, abotion activists etc all do it. I've seen it, I've done it. Its all nudge, nudge wink, wink, just obey the LETTER of the law. Everything else is fair game. Its like the designated hitter rule in baseball, a travesty, but until its changed its the rule. Both sides take adantage. It needs to be stopped.
