Convicted Terrorist Sent Free, Thanks To Scotland
« on: August 21, 2009, 08:15:10 PM »
Convict someone for a single murder is bad enough.

How about 270 innocent travelers, mostly Americans. In a cowardice bombing over Lockerbee. Humanitarian Reasons were reason enough for this scumbags release.

"Humanitarian?" How nice,.....

Thanks Scotland...  His hero's welcome back to Tripoli was the twisting of the knife...

I thought the Scots had "balls" under their kilts.... Seems some have had some Kool-Aid flavored Ale....

The best BHO could muster " was highly objectionable "....

Wish we could have blown the private plane out of the sky.....Somewhere over France,...

France would be perfect as they were the country that wouldn't let us fly our F-111 Ardvarks through their airspace when we went after Kadhafi.....

This is WRONG on so many levels.....

They don't have the death penalty.
We've had Manson who WAS sentenced to death getting Parole hearings for decades, the only reason he isn't free is because he doesn't want to be.
John Hinckley, who shot Reagan has been getting weekend passes for  20+ years.
Squeaky Fromme who tried to shoot Ford was released last week.
At least Scotland made this asshole LEAVE.

Should have left in a pine box, not worthy of oak.

It's California...

Somehow got a good defense lawyer.

Squeaky Fromme who tried to shoot Ford was released last week.

She didn't hardly know which end of the gun went bang. and was a flake.

I don't know, it just seems wrong to let this bastard go.

Still.  It's a different way to look at it.

But I gotta agree with you, Twyacht, this doesn't feel like justice to me.

I did pop over to BBC News and saw in their "Have your say" editorials that quite a ew Europeans aren't happy about this event either.

He never should have gone to prison after the trial, (nor should the other 3)
Should have been out the back door up against the wall bang, end of story.
On the other hand, at least THIS one DID go to prison, the ones that blew up the "La Belle" Disco never did, nor did the ones who hijacked the Achille Lauro, even after we forced their plane down the Italians let them go.
International terrorism is a MILITARY affair just because they do not have tanks or uniforms does not make it any less a MILITARY operation.
It is in fact the only effective method for any one to challenge us. No military force on this planet can challenge the US on a conventional battle field and be sure of winning, leave out China, Russia, and India, and no conventional force can challenge us period, they might hurt OUR forces, but THEIRS will be destroyed and all the damage would be on THEIR home land.
100 or 200 trained "terrorists" however could destroy our society in a week or less. fewer would achieve the same result but it would take longer. And we wouldn't even know who to hit back at.

Remember that one of those same F-111s "accidentally" bombed their embassy when we hit Tripoli. You can accuse Reagan of many things, not having a sense of humor isn't one of them.

manson was given the death pentily, but in 72 California v. Anderson, made that life.  A small part of that case said if you were not given life with out parol( remember the capital part is like a 2nd conviction) then you get parol.   back then all they did was life or death.
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

The "humanitarian" release was BS and the heroes welcome in Tripoli was bigger BS.

A travesty all the way around.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090823/ap_on_go_ot/us_lockerbie_fbi

WASHINGTON – FBI Director Robert Mueller sharply criticized Scotland's justice minister for releasing the Lockerbie bomber, an act that "gives comfort to terrorists" all over the world.

Mueller sent a letter to Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill, who cited compassionate grounds in his decision to let Abdel Baset al-Megrahi return to Libya because he has prostate cancer and was given only months to live by British doctors.

The angry tone of the letter is out of character with the normally reserved Mueller, indicating his outrage is personal as well as professional. He also sent copies to the families of the Lockerbie victims.

"I have made it a practice not to comment on the actions of other prosecutors," Mueller wrote. "Your decision to release Megrahi causes me to abandon that practice in this case. I do so because I am familiar with the facts, and the law. ... And I do so because I am outraged at your decision, blithely defended on the grounds of 'compassion.'"

Before he became FBI director, Mueller spent years as a Justice Department lawyer leading the investigation into the 1988 airplane bombing that killed 270 people, most of them Americans.
