Honestly, I tend to agree with the gu'mint on this. The fact that the news is of one or two fatalities here and there rather than dozens or hundreds, would be indicative. Even in Mexico City it was less than 4 dozen out of how many million? Plus, if you look at the numbers of how many thousands die from the flu every year (toddlers, the elderly, immuno-compromised folks etc.) I see little reason to panic and little recourse if you choose to.

Some numbers of deaths are a little higher than some may think. Flu season really hasn't started yet and San Diego County already has 18 deaths. Brazil has 557. For the US, the last number I heard was 127. Of course, the flu kills quite a few every year anyway. I saw the other day that MRSA is killing 19,000 people a year too.
I don't think there is cause for panic yet, but it is worth keeping an eye on. Keep some stored food and water in case there ever is a potential outbreak of anything that may keep you holed up for a while. Beans, bullets and gasoline…
Wash your hands and make sure your little kids do too. Doctors are around people with the flu every year and they usually avoid it with simple hygiene.
