The sad thing here is that while people say this, incumbent congress critters have a 90% re-election rate. We hate Congress, but love our Billy Bob. This is what pork barelling does. I hate the idea of term limits but I do wish voters would actualy carry through on their tough guy poll answers for once and throw the bums out. It would have a salubrious effect on the republic.

The Patriot Act was written and waiting for the release when the time was right. How else could something that complex, that large, that convoluted be ready in 3 days?

So at the very least, it was written under BJ's regime, maybe even earlier. Before runstowin steps in here, yes, both parties have continually sold us out, which is why I keep saying that so many of the so-called crises and challenges and dividing issues - gay rights, abortion and the like - are nothing more than smoke and mirrors to keep us all occupied and at each others' throats, and while we pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, our country is sold out from under us.

When were the American people ever told or given the opportunity to comment on:
- the use of a credit score to control every aspect of our financial lives?
- turning this country bi-lingual in every national store?
- other items you can contribute here?

FTP: "There is a huge difference between "Rule OF Law" and "Rule BY Law" and it sounds to me that he has confused the two and taken the opposite side of the argument from every liberty minded thinker since the writing of the Magna Carta.

The Rule Of Law is the natural element of law that says that everyone is subject to natural law. This is used to keep the king/state in check by saying that all authority is subject to the Rule Of Law including the king/state.

Rule By Law is what the king/state tries to do when it makes laws and attempts to subjugate its subjects by the use of force.

His statements in the video along with his complete lack of understanding of the word "anarchy" indicate that he believes as soon as a cop is not available to come to your rescue, all civilization falls apart. Then he goes on to say that its not even up for debate!

You see, that's the opposite of the theory of The Rule Of Law.

What he is proposing is called The Rule By Law, that humans are by nature evil beasts that must be controlled by the king/state for their own good, and if the king/state is not there the people will fall on each other and devour one another.

Now folks, I'm not nit picking here.
This is serious.
The world is facing some very important events and if we don't understand what got us into this mess we will simply rebuild another mess like the last one.
Where we are today, with our almost complete dependence on the government and government services is a state of Rule By Law and if anything goes wrong, it all collapses.

If the future can be saved, it can only be by people recognizing that we must move away from Rule By Law, away from dependence on the state and towards personal liberty. We must return to Rule Of Law that we abandoned in America over 100 years ago.

Rule By Law is why we are where we are.

If they could vote to keep or replace the entire Congress, just 25% of voters nationwide would keep the current batch of legislators.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 57% would vote to replace the entire Congress and start all over again. Eighteen percent (18%) are not sure how they would vote.

I wish we would borrow an idea from Peru. They have (or had, I haven't paid attention to Peruvian politics since the early 1990's), what's called a null ballot. It is just a vote of NO. If no candidate gets a majority, then a new electon is called with any canidate whose total was less then the null vote being ineligible to run again. You might never get a Democrat elected in Utah or a Republican in California, but I bet a lot of folks would just vote no and say, not you Sparky, to their incumbent, and send the parties back to try again.
