A mainstream TV series that might paint gun owners in a positive light

And, hey, what is mainstream...I take the Outdoor Channel to be mainstream...the stuff everyone else watches is sheep food.

I watched all three trailers, and it makes me nervous!  Having watched a couple Pawn Stars episodes, having seen what the media can do with sound bites, and knowing that it is hidden camera stuff much of the time scares me.  If they don't twist it, it will still be wide open to interpretation by many who don't understand.

By the way, do you suppose that in that third trailer where they ask how guns make you feel there will be anyone like me?  Do you think there will be anyone that really doesn't have a special feeling caused by guns?  I mean, this isn't drugs, sex or alcohol.  It is an object ... a tool used for a sport and defense of ourselves and our nation.  That question is like handing someone a golf ball and asking "how does this make you feel?"  You ever wonder where quotes like "A slight recoil" come from?

Scary concept and nervously waiting to see what comes of it.

I'm very leery of how this could pan out but I'm optomistic.  After all, SHOWTIME brought us BULL$HIT and their episode on Gun Control, which gave us a solid 22 mins supporting why the right to own guns is a fundamental right.  Perhaps the network executives got a positive response from the episode and realize that there is a large gun owning audience that would tune in. 

I would suspect that Lock N' Load will give us moments where we will cringe at the television but I hope those moments are overshadowed by scenes with responsible gun owners buying and using guns for reasons non-gun owners can respect.  If nothing else, I think it will be eye opening for viewers to see the diversity of gun owners.  As MB says, we want to make guns a "normal" part of American life.  If this series can help make guns seem more normal to those on the fence about gun control, then God bless the producers.

Here is a NY Post article. The author is raging mad about the show..... he infers that they sell a Glock 17 to a 8 year old, and is disgusted that this gun store is 10 miles away from Columbine High School..... I guess those guns might walk over there and go on another rampage all on their own

That was interesting.  Really boring.  Not funny.  Actually, it's what I'd expect talk at a gun store would be like, especially with an annoying counter worker/salesman.
A couple of gun geek notes:
They have some cool guns there: Calico, KRISS, FN FS2000, RPK.
Why isn't Wolf or Russian ammo allowed at the range?
Recommended guns:  actually closer to what I'd hope for, with no brand or even category preferred.  However, I never got the feeling the host knew anything about what he was selling.
The setup: many of these reality shows invite 'ringers' onto the show.  I couldn't tell if the host knew who the ringer was, but I tend to think so, just due to the way the conversation went.  I've been to many stores over my lifetime, and I have yet to have an employee 'hit on me' or invite me to do something outside the store.

I'll watch the other 5 episodes, but I don't expect to be entertained or informed.
