Sorry Haz.  It's been way to long since I had any of this and that was just a basic chemistry class in college.  The last time I looked at some of that stuff was when my kids were in middle school.  I got out some of my old college notes and they were studying the stuff I had in college in middle school.

Some times you just have to walk away from it for awhile and come back to it later with a head that is not cluttered in frustration.

Not suggesting that Haz Jr is a dummy, but I am, and have found that the "For Dummies" books are a great help to me in a lot of things to get the background to understanding the tougher things.  They probably have one for Chemistry

The "for Dummies" series is actually one of the best selling reference series in the country, with a well earned reputation of reduceing complex things into a form the ordinary non "geek" can comprehend.

I've got a bachelor's in Biochem. Worked in a research lab for a while doing analytical chem, which deals heavily in stoichiometry. If you post the question I'll work it and try to post an answer and explanation of the solution. The big thing with stoichiometry is you have to make sure you have your units correct. For example a question gives you information you need in say Kg, but you have to convert to grams to use a certain formula.

Doc,  First, THANKS!

His question seems to be 'why'.  As in what good is it when he doesn't see the need for it.

Could you call me tonight?  I will pm you my cell number so you and he can talk.

Welcome DocWannaBe, this forum continues to have a vast resource of members, and even in stoichiometry. :o  Hope you can help HazJr.

Might need you to provide the recipe for smokeless powder if ammo gets any tighter... ::)

I'd have no problem giving you a call, but I'm new here. Where do you click to see your PMs?

Look at the top of the 'forums' page.  It will say you have a new message.  Just click on it.

Welcome Doc,
Stroll on over to the new member intro and introduce yourself.  Thanks for helping Haz and his son.
