Newbe question
« on: November 04, 2007, 09:27:04 AM »
I am building a ruger 10/22, and i just bought a tactical solutions bull barrel for it... In the instructions it says to use emery cloth to evenly sand the barrel to fit the reciever. 1) Is emery cloth the stuff plumbers use to prepare pipes for soldering? 2) Has anyone in the forum done this fitting and how hard is it  to do?  ???

Yes emery cloth is the same as plumbers use, it comes in different grades (fine - course). Use the finest grade for a better finish. GO SLOW. Check fit often. Rather have to check and resand than to over sand and trash barrel. :'( Use shoeshine motion with barrel held in sturdy vise. Rotate barrel often to sand evenly.
No I have not done this on this type of barrel but it should not be hard to do.
Good Luck, and take your time.  :)

Worked like a charm... THANK YOU. All I needed was that boost of confidence.
