I am pretty sure you do, but I have flown privately in 15years. Dad owned 7 different airplanes in under 10years. Mine was a Cessna 150. I wish I took my written, was almost ready to solo and then written and I would have been licensed at 18. 

As for the airplane, it is rather strange to have the door on the left, as that is the pilot's seat. At first I though this was a MU2U, but those a bit bigger from what I remember. I had one almost mid air me at a 90' angle while flying over a air-force base here on the FL East coast. I still remember the co-pilot's wide eyes as he looked to see me there and then the "oh sh..." look.
