Execution date set for D.C. sniper mastermind
« on: September 16, 2009, 10:40:47 AM »
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A Virginia judge on Wednesday set a Nov. 10 execution date for John Allen Muhammad, mastermind of the 2002 sniper attacks in the Washington, D.C., area that left 10 dead.
The attorney general's office last week requested that the execution be on Nov. 9, but Prince William County Circuit Judge Mary Grace O'Brien chose a day later. The date, which falls on a Tuesday, was picked so courts would be open the day before in case they have to take up last-minute appeals, said Jonathan Sheldon, Muhammad's attorney.

The date was picked during an early morning conference call with the judge, the attorney general's office and Sheldon.

Sheldon said Muhammad will appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court and ask Gov. Timothy M. Kaine for clemency.

Muhammad was sentenced to death for the slaying of Dean Meyers, one of 10 people shot to death during a 2002 rampage that terrorized the Washington, D.C., area. Muhammad and teenage accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo killed six people in Alabama and Louisiana before moving on to Maryland, D.C. and Virginia, where Meyers was shot at a Manassas gas station. Six others were wounded.

Malvo is serving life in prison for the shooting spree.

Last month a federal appeals court rejected Muhammad's argument that prosecutors withheld critical evidence and that Muhammad never should have been allowed to act as his own attorney for a portion of his trial because he was too mentally impaired.

The attorney general's office said it was preparing a statement Wednesday.

Hell, I'm army and I noticed that one. ;D Screw the SOB. Why is he still breathing anyway? I have to say, I'm glad that Al Queda isn't paying attention here. Honestly, Bin Laden is like a Bond (or Austin Powers) villian here. He dreams of sharks with laser beams in their heads and 747s controlled by suicide bombers who know how to fly them. The sniper used a POS Taurus and an $800 AR and created terror for weeks. He might have gotten clean away if it weren't for a couple of bad breaks. Which makes more sense? Which can you put into play more quickly? Its good to be fighting idiots. I do worry that they might wise up.

whats really scary, is some one like myself that has knowledge of how power plants, chemical plants and refirerys are built...  with a 50 bmg and API ammo( which is legal in most states, even if its not its still easy to get)  could travel the country, doing 100s of millions in damage.  Unless you catch me in the act, there is very little you could do to stop me.

I would never do such a thing, but I could single handedly be the most destructive terrorist this country has ever seen.
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

And he would never even ENTER the security perimeter.

the best part, your taxs paid for me to not only to know how to go about it, but alos the methods that will be used to try and stop me.

I've been saying for a while, that a group of guys with training and some basic knowledge could put us back into the stone age.

Being a "sparky", I don;t need powerplants, all I need is access from FAR away to large substations which are only protected by standard chain link fences. All those transformers tied into grids, take one out, the grid shuts itself down,....

Power companies have been reluctant to upgrade electrical substations due to costs, while new residential, commercial strip malls, and industrial demand, keep tapping into it.

Their's the California "brown outs" that happen due to excess demand. Similar grids in the North East.... One could put Manhatten, Long Island and a large portion of New Jersey, PA, and Delaware, IN THE DARK!!!

Don;t even need a .50 BMG witg AP rounds.

Disclaimer,  I would NEVER do this, just pointing out the vulnerabilities that Homeland Security, and Janet from another planet, Napolitano, nor her predecessors have addressed.

That would cause several millions of people to simply become "offline" and in the dark....

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison
