Lawrence and I have discussed his wait for his holster for quite some time.  About six or seven months into the process, he mentioned to me that he was still waiting (and at the time I told him we'd be happy to run a review in my online magazine, The Martialist.

When poor Lawrence finally reached the year mark, I started to get a little offended myself on his behalf.  Coincidentally, I posted an unrelated article in another forum where Mr. Brommeland is a moderator.  He was incredibly imperious and rude, clearly convinced that he knew everything (despite the fact that I pointed out several times that he was wrong -- we were discussing defensive knife techniques, Filipino martial arts, and related topics, which are things about which I believe I'm fairly well informed, whereas Gary "trained with a guy who trained with a guy," etc.).  He treated me so shabbily, in fact, that I haven't returned to that particular forum since.

I've never heard anything but good things about Brommeland's craftsmanship, but I question his temperament.  Lawrence, has he communicated with you recently about the holster?

Hello Lawrence & Phil,

Phil, you are spot on.

I have followed this dilemma with the holsters and belt since before Lawrence placed the order.  I realize that we must be careful about what is said on public forums such that we do not slander or Libel another person, but it seems totally unreasonable that a person such as Brommeland advertizes such good quality and service, and then fails to perform.  In addition, his mean spirited responses to Lawrence do not seem warranted.

I'm sure that his attention will be drawn to this forum soon, and all I can say in support to Lawrence is that he should either deliver or refund LK's money.  That simple.  Do it now.

Good to find this forum, Michael,  I have been a fan of yours on the TV for some time now.  Your show is one of the few that my wife will sit with me and watch.  I pack.  She packs.  Everyone packs at Six Shooter Siding.

Eric Larsen, another holster maker who frequently makes excuses for Brommeland, couldn't resist carrying Gary's water at the Firing Line forum -- he showed up and pasted a quote from Brommeland (who couldn't be bothered to register and respond to at thread about his customer service, I guess) that basically made a lot more excuses, implied that Lawrence's order was basically done out of pity and supposedly "discounted," and then insulted me

Do we really need to do business with someone who acts like he's doing you a favor when he finally fills your order?

This is a bit off topic, but your leather problems (not the fun kind ;) bring back a bitter memory. I had , in the early eighties, a rather expensive pistol that broke. The gunsmith I had sent it to was one of the few in the couintry who could work on my pride and joy. Two years later iit was shipped back, mis-assembled and worn out. There was brass embedded in the bolt face and the barrel was ragged out. I learned the hard way that assembling a specific washer in an Automag's safety will allow the safety to sliip off  on it's own and go full auto.  Good thing I was already firing it, and only had three rounds left. Better thing it did not happen in my hip holster!! I could not find a lawyer willing to take the case across eight states, so I was out the Automag and the nearly $600 to repair it. (I was one of the unlucky ones to have a model with one of the brittle bolts, which cracked.) Again, off topic. Same song, different vocalist.

After reading that post from Mr. Brommeland I was torn with emotions.

This was a strange post from a man who one week ago told me in an email to basically kiss off because since Phil posted on threads regarding his inability to deliver in a timely fashion, I would get my order WHENEVER HE GOT AROUND TO IT.

This wasn't the same man who Ive known for several years and respected.

This man posted in an open forum that he took pity on me because of my unfortunate injury of two years ago and gave me a massive discount price on a belt, OWB holster and single mag pouch of $220. Further, he had to guts to say in an open forum that he informed me that because he gave me this generous discount that I neither realized nor asked for, he would get to it when he got to it.

The truth was, he told me in Feb 06 that it would be to me no later than March or early April 06.

I talked to him on line once or twice, and he called me one or twice during the spring of last year telling me it wouldnt me much longer.

He claims that I called him incessantly.

I have Verizon phone records that show I called twice between April and Sept of last year, once in April (obviously) and once that fall. Then I called in January of this year. His nice and gracious wife (really, Im serious, Remy is an extremely nice lady) told me my order was third or fourth in the stack. He then got on the line and told me I was close to being ready, and ahead of me was a law enforcement officer that had been waiting a month more than me.

He promised it would be a three-week wait. No package was forthcoming.

last month I received an email note from remy confirming the size of my belt, and stating he was doing belts that week,( have screen captures of that).

She suggested it would be ready soon.

Over a week ago, I sent him a frustrate note wondering if I would ever get my order.

He replied with a vitriolic message telling what I said at the beginning. That I was a pest, never to call or contact him again, and that the long wait was substantially due to the fact that Phil talked about him on line.

He said that "there wasn't a cow big enough to make a 54 inch belt.(yeah, Im a big guy), and suggested I was just lucky he was helping me at all.

Let's address the belt issue. Im a 6-3 inch 289 lb man. I'm a big, biscuit eating boy. I asked him if a 54 inch belt would be a problem. He said no problem whatsoever.

In 1997 I order just such a belt from Milt Sparks. The nice lady told me it would be no problem, and I received it in just FIVE WEEKS.

That belt lasted till 2005, when I retired it, because the thing was so stinky I couldnt get the smell out.

I bought an instructor belt from wilderness in 98 in that size. The belt cost about 45 bucks and was in my hands three weeks from my order date.

I wore it until just a few months ago when it just plain fell apart from 7 day per week use.

I understand the one man shop thing. I can dig it. There's only so much one craftsman can do.  If he had just told me it would take a year in the first place, I'd have understood and been fine with it. He didn't say anything like that, however.

(I'll be happy to post his reply to me if he denies he said anything in this message.)

This whole thing is distasteful to me. Im a private guy..airing my dirty laundry in public turns my stomach. Gary said some nasty things about me, and I'm not standing by and taking it anymore.

I don't want to be pitied and made fun of by him in public. I'm pissed off.

Mike, if you don't like the way this thread is going, I understand. I dont have any problems if you lock it. I just wanted to answer what this dude in Tennessee is telling all over the internet about me.

You have every reason to be angry.  Such response from one who begs for others business, is totally unprofessional to say the least.  It is unethical, and morally reprehensible.

He is a blight upon the face of all who are in the business.  I'm sure that his juvenile behavior wont improve his business.

He's just trying to assasinate my character with derision and half-truths and I'm not going to take it anymore.

They taught us a cool phrase in the newspaper business. Don't pick a fight with man who buys ink by the barrel.  I buy a lot of ink. 8)

Yo Mr. Keeney,

Have you had any results with the holsters from this guy?  We are just curious if he has delivered on his promises.

Am interested myself! What's up? I've let this thread stand because I believe that your word is your bond...

Hey folks

I got an email from the maker on 28 march saying the holster and mag pouch was finished, but the belt was still needing finishing touches.  He said the whole thing would be shipped by the end of that week. I have yet to receive it.

He seemed quite irate with me for some reason.  :o

this is the third or so "I'll have it done next week" promise, and yet no delivery.

what do you folks think I should do?
