Need 10/22 high cap mag
« on: September 19, 2009, 12:02:11 PM »
I lost my two old 10/22 20 round mags. These were old, as in 25 years old and worked great. Some weasel stole them yesterday at the range, along with 3 ten round factory mags. Its my fault for leaving them on a table while I hit the head, but the range is a pretty friendly place. Oh well, live and learn, but honestly, what sort of idiot is going to risk stealing at a gun range when all you get is 5 .22 mags? WTF?. Anyhoo it has been better than two decades since I've bought a new 10/22 mag (which speaks volumes of good about the ones I had as I shoot the heck out that little rifle). What brand do I want?
Thanks

For bannana clips, I've never had a problem with the three Butler Creek mag.'s I've got.  But I like the clear factory mag.'s best.  My 10/22's balance right under the magazine well, and when carrying them around in the woods several hours the flush fitting mag.'s make for a MUCH nicer handleing / carrying rifle.  JMO

Butler Creek makes plastic, and steel lip magazines.  The steel lip magazines actually give me some feeding issues where the plastic has never failed.  :-\

I'd listen to some one who doesn't know his "clips" from his "magazines".    ::)

Figured I'd weigh in before he gets clawed by the cat   ;D
Actually, Butler Creek DOES have a good reputation, Ram line on the other hand USED to have issues, I don't know if that is still the case.

I used to have ramline and loved them, but they were 25 years old. Who knows if the new ones are close or a whole different animal? I just want one or two for the range that won't be jammomatics. Its not an SD weapon, just a toy unless I decide to eat bunny, which tastes remarkabley like bunny. ;D

Chiquita makes one that has worked fairly well for me.

I'm not much of a hunter and it provides a snack on the way home.

Yes, I found it in the archives, Sept. 08.

The good, bad, and ugly of different 10/22 mags.

After changing to Butler Creek, and ditching the Eagle, I have no issues.

Anybody tried the promag 50 rounders? I'm generally skeptical of drums and lean towards single stack (simple is good). Still if they work its a cool toy for short dollars. Thoughts?

Ramline has always been my go-to mag. I'm using the same ones I've had forever. I have bought new Ramline mags and Eagle mags (after they started manufacturing "high cap" mags again) still in plastic. Just never had reason to use anything else.

Black Dog Magazine has an excellent reputation for AR .22 conversion unit magazines and their AR .22 conversion mags work extremely well in my Tactical Solutions .22 upper.

They now have a 10-22 type magazine available, but I have not tried them so I have no first hand knowledge of how they work.
