Last week, after the GSG-5 started sheding some parts, I took out the Ruger and started lobbing .38 specials at an 8-1/2 x 11" target at 50 yards. I managed to hit the paper, which is all I really meant to do, with about twenty or twentyfive rounds out of fifty. It was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be since I can pretty much keep them on a 6" to 8" group at 25 yards.
About a 3-5" hold over the center kept them where I needed and as I shot more, I missed more. I'd say the majority of my hits were in the first thirty rounds fired, in double action. I really don't like shooting the little fella single action since I smoothed the action considerably.
Maybe tomorrow I'll give it a go with the 1911.

Should be able to get the hit count up a bit!
I was reading an article that explained that in the early days of law enforcement, they qualified out to fifty yards. Only in the last forty years have they brought the ranges in closer.
