I don't see how it wouldn't. Every bank is full of cameras inside and outsid. Plus they are virtually all corporate owned. They can afford a 10 reward. Anyone dumb enough to rob one (average haul is about 2k) is going to come from an economic strata where folks will dime out grandma for 10k.

http://www.fbi.gov/publications/bcs/bcs2006/bank_crime_2006.htm

Last full year data I could find. 20% of the money recovered.

I've seen several cases lately where the feds didn't prosecute and left it to the state courts to prosecute, try, convict, and house the prisoners.  Not sure why,  Maybe they feds feel it's not worth their time and effort if it is a small take.  Maybe they don't want the expense.  Maybe state sentences are longer.

Most chances taken on armed carriers shows a big "0" in most of it. Most criminals know not to hit such a target cause they are trained and armed. As they should be!!!!!!! Internal theft for just lunch money causes more corporations money than they can account for over the fiscal year..... ??? They need to open their minds.  Cutting hard is for the desparate. Cutting short is for the career criminal. Just insight from a long time loss prevention specialist.  Only a small percentage will take the large takes!!!!!!!!!!!!

So your standing in / laying on the floor of a bank being robbed...  What kind of tv movie watching idiot is thinking about pulling his gun and shooting the guy when he's only concentrating on taking the money and getting away?!?  Take a chance getting myself killed for somebody elses money?!?  No thanks.

You rob a bank to get money, and get away.  If you go on a berserk shooting spree you'll only bring down 100 X's as much heat on yourself.  Even the dumbest robber is going to consider this.  JMO.  I dont think its time to play hero.
