And the flood waters receeded
« on: September 23, 2009, 06:14:19 AM »
Just in case you're wondering,

We here in metro Atlanta are digging out from the torrential rains over the last week.   (Digging out all the mud and clay that washed into houses and cars).   No not me.  My house is okay.   I had 15" of rain in a 6 day period, but only got a little seepage in the the basement.   The worst hit areas were the Douglas County and the southern part of Cobb County.  One of our elementary schools was floodedup to the roof line.

I live in the eastern part of the county and we bought up all home likely to be flooded almost 20 years ago.  So we're all save in this section.

The good news is the drought is over.   I may now water my lawn any day I like.

At the height of the flood this firetruck had water up to it's roof and of course was of no help in stopping the house from burning.

You're looking at the parking lot of 6 Flags.

This is the elementary school which is a total loss.

And this is a BP station in south Cobb County

Wow, sorry to see the damage but glad you made it through with only some seepage.

How about your church/office?  Did that escape as well?  I'm sure that where ever you are working out of you are really busy down there right now.  Take care!

Glad to hear your OK. I'm glad to hear the death toll was single digits as well.

Good to see you made it though it ok alf.
It seems natural disasters are becoming more of a norm than the exception these days.
One only has to look back here a few months ago when we lost 173 people in bush fires.
Take care of you and yours!

Dang, Alf.....those pics bring flashbacks to south Georgia in '94 and '98.

Glad you are OK and your house is good.
Take care......and drink bottled water........or boil your tap water.....flooding is nasty business.

As a denizen of the flood-prone Red River area this spring, my heart goes out to your neighbors. Prayers are up for you and everyone down there.
