U.N. climate meeting was propaganda: Czech president

By Louis Charbonneau

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - Czech President Vaclav Klaus sharply criticized a U.N. meeting on climate change on Tuesday at which U.S. President Barack Obama was among the top speakers, describing it as propagandistic and undignified.

"It was sad and it was frustrating," said Klaus, one of the world's most vocal skeptics on the topic of global warming.

"It's a propagandistic exercise where 13-year-old girls from some far-away country perform a pre-rehearsed poem," he said. "It's simply not dignified."

At the opening of the summit attended by nearly 100 world leaders, 13-year-old Yugratna Srivastava of India told the audience that governments were not doing enough to combat the threat of climate change.

Klaus said there were increasing doubts in the scientific community about whether humans are causing changes in the climate or whether the changes are simply naturally occurring phenomena.

But politicians, he said, seem to be moving closer to a consensus on climate change.

"The train can't be stopped and I consider that a huge mistake," Klaus said.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon organized the climate summit to help create momentum before a U.N. meeting in Copenhagen in December to reach agreement on new targets for reducing so-called greenhouse gas emissions.

However, new proposals by China and a rallying cry from U.S. President Barack Obama did little to break a U.N. deadlock about what should be done.

Klaus published a book in 2007 on the worldwide campaign to stop climate change entitled "Blue Planet in Green Chains: What Is Under Threat -- Climate or Freedom?"

In the book, Klaus said global warming has turned into a new religion, an ideology that threatens to undermine freedom and the world's economic and social order.

Hell, Biden probably still ain't too sure.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

That is why he won't take a ship to Europe ... Might fall off the edge you know  :-\

Last night I spent four hours at an electric utility meeting put on by the group that helps us procure our power.  This is the same group that is helping us with the power plant in South Dakota.

There is a lot more to some of the issues than I have a total grasp on right now, but on the surface it is scary.  I will be receiving last nights entire presentation in the coming days to review and study deeper.

The worst part of what we saw was that this whole cap and trade and carbon credit (tax) thing is United Nations driven.  Every nation is doing their own stuff, but you can see it coming if we don't do what THEY think is right.  Next (and only second because the UN is the driving force) is the power that the 2nd district Court has given to the EPA this week.  The scariest point, and think how this could come into firearms and ammo someday, is that if an issue threatens human welfare there is a whole pile of studies of pros and cons they will do, but if it threatens human health the EPA can act without congressional or executive authority.

I only keep bringing up utilities on here, because it is something I am involved very deeply in and there is a lot of backdoor crap going on here that could be used in many areas of our lives.

Did anyone that bought into the propaganda stop to think that India is one of the major polluters in the world  ???

M58,

That is how it is all going to happen.  Either UN treaties or 'backdoor' by way of EPA, OSHA, etc.  They won't have to pass any laws!

China and India are both some of the world's biggest polluters - but as "developing" countries they will get a pass for now and into the future. Besides, they are half of the BRIC bloc - Brazil, Russia, India and China. These are the countries who stand to gain once the US as an economic power is destroyed. And once they are pre-eminent, guess which UN rules won't matter anymore? Cap and trade for one.

All of this green crap is designed to further damage western civilization so that others may take over..

When I was a kid they kept talking about the coming ice age, then it was global warming, now since they have no idea what direction they want to go in it is just global "change". I guess the fact that they found villages under the receding ice in Greenland means nothing. Let's not confuse them with any facts, but the planet is going to do what it wants to and we are along for the ride. Responsible stewardship should be the goal, not enslavement of the human population. Oh,wait, that is the goal for these jerks in office!
