I'm so proud of my wife.
« on: September 26, 2009, 05:05:43 PM »
Ok so with out my knowledge she signed us up for her offices  charity trap trouny.  I find out at 9 this morning.  we have to be there at noon.

Now she has never shot a shotgun til this morning.  hell shes only fired about 500 rounds of 22.

So I crack open the safes and have her try about 10 diffrent guns to see which fits.  my 1st gun a youth 20 ga 1100 is really close, all it needs is a slip on but pad and its a perfect fit.  So we are off the range, I have her pattern it, and its shooting low, 3 quaters inserted between the slip on but pad and the stock, and we are at 60/40.

So I give her a little more basic instruction, have her mount the gun about a dozen times or so... Since they are throwing the tragets out strait, I told her to just come from underneath and as soon as the beed covers the clay, pull the trigger( 60/40 split remember).

The 1st round she did very well for a beginer ,  hiting 7/25, the last 5 were all hits.  I was so proud of her that she hit birds.  after she went 5 in a row I had to give her a huge hug

the 2nd round she did 18/25.

Guess what,  it was enough to win the womens tourny.

No one belived us that she had never fired a shot gun before today.  She signed us up as she knows I enjoy clay games, but have not been able to aford to go out.

I went 23/25  and 25, too win the mens.  None of the other men broke 20 in either round.  (doctors and nurses, what can I say)

I don't think they want us back next year   ;D

All in all a great day.

about $3k raised going off to a fund to pay for artifical legs for children.

Congrats to you and the Mrs.  Maybe those other docs and nurses should do some more practicing and have you back next year.  Make sure that there isn't any Chicagoland Nurses in on that.  One could be my sister that'll give anyone a run for their money in Clays

What an opportunity to help the poor doctors and nurses who messed up so badly. Hopefully they all had fun.

When I say the title to this thread, I thought this was going to be another reason to hate seriously dislike BillT!!!

Good for you, and +1000 to your honey. Way to go.

Great news TAB, A good time, a good cause, and the best incentive for the Mrs. to continue and maybe explore other shooting sports.
Also a goad to those other Dr's and Nurses to get out and practice more  ;D
PS, Enjoy your steaks   ;D

Haz, she has one of the best "green" trigger pulls I've ever seen.  last 5 years or so learning how to keep her hand steady and do things smoothly.
