The issue of large caliber airguns came up in an earlier thread. I did a little poking as I like airguns and was amazed at what these big bore guns will do. Muzzzle loader velocities, untouched by gun control laws (except maybe discharge in city limits), and reasonably priced ($550 for the one in this article). This is just one of many reviews and videos of folks taking deer and hogs at 50-100 yards. Color me impressed.

I once Read an old G&A Article that said Lewis & Clark had .54 caliber air rifles on their expedition. Bad part about it is, some states have laws against hunting things like deer with airguns.

thats becuase some idoits out there want to use thier $50 .177  650fps air guns to try and take a deer...

They did. When you think about it is the perfect TEOTAWAKI survival gun. No need for powder or reloading tools. Just a foot pump, some lead and a bullet mold. Its illegal to hunt with them in Fl., but that wouldn't cover hogs on private land as they are considered the property of the land owner.

Also note that there have been numerous custom made large calibers air guns before Eun Jin, Sam Yang, & ShinSung started commercially making big bores.

I wouldn't mind having a BGMF Gargoyle in .452.   With a hand pump and a lead bullet mold it would make a great long term survival gun.
