Well, I see it more of a "when" he wears it kind of question.

If it is true that you do not wear it when on the range is there a reason?  If not then you are being disingenuous.  If there is you could state it.

I have never noticed the "here again - gone again" thing myself as I couldn't care less about such trivial matters.

Last, even though you are a "public" figure if you don't feel the desire to explain then at least give them the "Worsham quote".

Maybe I read their email wrong, Pathfinder, but I think they were telling Michael to lose the earring or they would boycott and bad-mouth, etc., etc., etc. on up to Alaska. We're not talking about abortion here...we're talking about a small piece of jewelery.

Those folks seem to me to be a lot closer to those left coast fascists, and this goes way beyond them "having their opinion". "Do it or else" is the kind of crap you get from left field liberals. For that matter, that's the kind of crap you get from the Taliban.
I mean the way I read that, they are telling him, "Do what we say or we'll do everything we can to ruin you or slow you down".

You know what else? Turn it around... So WHAT if their "World is one where the earring thing is just not done"? MB's rights (among others) are free speech (wearing earrings), the right to bear arms, and (going all out) the pursuit of happiness. UNLESS, of course, he wants to pursue it in a way that someone from a very sparsely populated part of the country disagrees with. 
Like I said, maybe they're joking. In any case I go back to my own earring...everybody gets one free wisecrack. After that, you're on your own.

I read the same posting as you, jaybethel, and I stand by my comments. If they want to start a boycott, that is as much their right as it is MB's to wear the earring.

"Do it or else" comes from everywhere. Obviously coming from southern NJ (my condolences by the way from a former denizen of the comparable state of IL) you may be unaware of just how different the middle of this country can be. I have spent a lot of time in NJ, OK the northern part, and I know the life I live here in ND is absolutely un-knowable by folks in the urban areas on either coasts.

I guess part of my response is tempered by the fact that these folks will not have much of an impact. Seriously, how many people will boycott just because of an earring. And isn't this similar to the Zumbo's of the world - unable to really understand due to whatever obstacles they have in knowing. Patience and education is best.

I cannot stand idiots who think their opinion should matter to anyone else. If they do not like men with earrings then their men should not wear them, otherwise they should mind their own damn business. I refused to let my father tell me not to wear one, I refuse to let anyone else do so either. You do as you please and if they do not like it tough, I doubt your ratings will suffer much.

I'm not in favor of men wearing earrings, my own personal belief, and yes I live in rural Nebraska but spent 20 years on the Coasts in the Navy.  I've also had the pleasure of getting to meet Michael in person several times, plus traded phone calls and emails, and I believe he's a stand up guy and I believe it's his right to choose to wear an earring or not in his private life.  That said, Michael makes his living in the enterainment business, first impressions are everything when a person views Shooting Gallery for the first time and makes the split second decision on whether or not to click the channel button again, so does the earring a turn off alot of potential audience members, and currently the numbers don't show that it is, that's something only Michael and the Outdoor Channel will have to decide...

I really hope people look past first impressions.  Example, the first time I saw the lead on the framing crew that was working on our new home I thought there had been a horrific nail gun accident.  The guy had an unbelievable amount of steel in the right side of his face.  Bet framing crew I have ever seen.  They were in and out in about 10 days.  Everything was as straight as an arrow.  3700 square foot house and only 3 guys.  NICE!
