Contracts are like toilet paper these days, especially leases.  The tenant, in most all states, has far more rights than the owner does.

rather its illegal or not is not the issue( atleast for me)  you signed a contract saying you will do something. You should uphold your word.

I didn't see in the story where any such thing was in a contract.

Don't care where i was living, nobody can tell me not to put a flag on my OWN DAMNED VEHICLE! I paid for it after all. And if someone is in AMERICA and offended by an AMERICAN flag, YOU ARE FREE TO GO TO WHATEVER COUNTRY YOU FEEL LIKE!

TAB, you don't need to see the lease.  Here is what the LAW says:

SEC. 3. RIGHT TO DISPLAY THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES.
A condominium association, cooperative association, or residential real estate management association may not adopt or enforce any policy, or enter into any agreement, that would restrict or prevent a member of the association from displaying the flag of the United States on residential property within the association with respect to which such member has a separate ownership interest or a right to exclusive possession or use.

TAB....please get a refund on your education...I realize it was a math degree but Geez......

1.  Understand the proper usage of the word you're.  It is a contraction, or a combination of, the words you and are.  Other examples of contractions include doesn't, they're, and can't.

"You're a good friend." ("YOU ARE a good friend.")
"I don't know what you're talking about." ("I don't know what YOU ARE talking about.")

2.  Understand the proper usage of the word your.  The word your is the possessive form of you, referring to something that a person has, or something that belongs to the person in discussion [or, the person you are talking to].

"Is your stomach growling?"
"Your book is on the table."
"Your math degree is worthless!  Go back to school, while you're still young enough and your wife is still working."

Sorry dude, bit of a pet peeve, blame my Mother!   ;D

I know all too well about Gestapo HOA's and the like,.... It is in the lease/HOA agreement somewhere, most have slick lawyers draw up the property "rules", etc,...

They can draw attention to their plight and hopefully the group will relent under pressure.
One neighborhood in Wilmington, NC, called Landfall, would have volunteers actually cite residents for crooked blinds. Could not back in to your parking spot, no commercial vehicles, no boats, all painting had to be approved, etc,....

But you signed it when you moved in.

I say F em',...move on,.... I fly my Flag everyday.

TAB, there you go bloviating again.  If a contract clause is illegal it does not matter if one signs the contract.  The fact that a contract clause is illegal makes the clause unenforceable.

You may think otherwise but you would be wrong.
