Michael/all:

Regarding the concealed carry segment of the show, you stated that if you're going to get a concealed carry permint, #1, "carry your gun."

Here's my dilemma, my place of employment does not allow me to even bring a firearm on their property.  This makes it very impractical to always carry.  Thus, I carry infrequently.  Any suggestions?

Now, regarding #2, "shoot your gun", I have no problems with that.  I live on 5 acres with an excellent backstop and shoot once a week, weather permitting.  What good is it, though, if I can't carry the gun regularly.  I mean, technically, I can't even have it in a lock box in my car!

Hate to say it, but the Good Guys have to obey the laws and rules, even when they make no sense or border or being unconstitutional.  The last thing you want is to have a crime involving a gun on your record and that may happen if you go against your employer's wishes.  I am not a lawyer, but my guess is that you would be putting your personal freedoms at risk if you asserted your rights as you see them.  Don't get me wrong, I am on your side, but never want to see the good guys in trouble.
Hopefully the experts have a better answer or suggestion.

Are your vehicles subject to search ? Is there a metal detector at the gate ? Is your life less important than your job ?
There is no CRIME in ignoring a company policy. If they ask you to leave because you have a gun in your vehicle you can be charged with trespassing ONLY if you refuse. your vehicle can not be searched ANY WHERE, by ANY ONE  (except game Wardens in some states ) with out either YOUR permission or a SEARCH WARRANT.
Make your own decisions about that info and it's probably best to keep them to yourself on a public forum.

It would make for a hell of a lawsuit..... one that might set you up for life and make it so you dont have to work....... No, I dont have the balls to try it out.

Leing on your job app is grounds for being fired?

If your fired or have a large gap in employment, it will make the person hiring you wonder why.  While I can't speak for all employers, I personaly alway contact the last employer. 

Eric, you have no chance in hell winning that court case.  All they have to say is "gross insubordination" and/or "weapons policy violation"  I can assure you, 99.9% of employers are going to put your app in the "circular file", for either of those.  Furthermore, the 1st reply will lead to them asking "for what?".

as I said, its your choice rather you want to violate your companys weapons policy, just understand what will happen if your cuaght.

I was referring to suing the company who fired you for a reason that violated your civil rights, and thus made you nuclear to all future employers

It would really depend on the how the HR Person phrased it. Are they firing you for violating Company policy in general, (which is what some do with thieves that aren't worth prosecuting ) Or , are they firing you for violating that SPECIFIC policy.

I see it as gross insubordination.  You knew about the policy, yet you did it anyways.  If for some reason they refuse to anwser my q, I'm not going to hire you.

Eric, the USCONS is there to protect you from the goverment, not your Private employer.

if I were to catch one of my employees, carrying( remember I have a policy, if its legal for you to do so, and the property owner agrees in writing, its ok, other wise, its bye bye) in violation of my policy, they would be fired as soon as I could fill out the check.
