S&W .32 Top Break Revolver..... Questions
« on: October 30, 2009, 04:16:10 PM »
I just got an old S&W .32 top break revolver today in a trade.

Is there anyone on the forum that knows anything about these little revolvers?

It appears to be in pretty good condition but does need a cleaning. Grips appear to be original with no sign of cracking or abuse.

Some of the nickel finish is pitted.

I'll take some pics when I have a free moment.

Do these things deserve any special treatment?

Any collector value?

Thanks for any help,

David

Thanks Tom,

I'll check the sites.

The gun in the Shooting Times article looks like what I have.

Here are the pics........

Here's pictures of mine.  Actually, it was my grandmother's night stand gun.   Hammerless (DAO-of course), grip safety, mother of pearl grips.  In excellent mechanical shape. All the nickel is missing from the barrel, but most of it is still on the frame.

While the 32S&W is anemic, it's better than nothing.

Nice guns both of you!

I've always liked the looks of a top break, and some day I hope to own a few.

I gave the guy 200 rounds of .38 sp for the .32 revolver, holster and box of .32 ammo.

I feel I did alright in the trade.

I think you did great.   They aren't worth a whole lot (caveat, yours could be unique, don't take my word for it.)  But they do have a place in firearms history.   And they still work.
