BERETTA CX4 STORM CARBINE 9mm
« on: November 03, 2009, 11:05:00 AM »
Just got this sweet little carbine in 9mm and ordered STEEL PARTS from SierraPapa.com to make it run well.

Need good defense loads in 9mm.  Ideas please.  Thanks.

I like this carbine. I think you made an excellent choice! I intend to pick one up in the future. Well made, fairly priced, and very handy. It, and a Beretta Storm Pistol in the same caliber would make and excellent modern day pistol / rifle combo package. Let us know how she runs! Bill T.

I have read, and I'm sure you have as well, that you want to be careful about SD rounds in carbines. The problem being that a lot of good pistol rounds aren't designed for the higher velocities and this can cause problems for JHPs. I believe Speer's bonded Gold Dot will work, but I would call the factory (either Speer or Beretta) and ask.

Remington golden saber

Found that they feed better than the gold dots and other JHP 9MM.
More rounded nose, yet have been found to perform at least as good or better then other JHP.
If feed not a problem also like HST and Gold Dots.

I like the Winchester Ranger +P+ for the 9mm, but you need to check with Beretta to see if the gun can handle the pressure. I think they come in 115 & 127 grain bullets. The boxes are marked LEO only so you may or may not be able to get them in your area. The muzzle energy on these runs about 450 ft lb. And at $35 or so for 50rds their a little less expensive than most other PD ammo.

There's a model that accepts M9/92 mags and one that take Px4mags.
