Range Report
« on: November 04, 2009, 09:05:37 PM »
Not sure if a range report should go in the DR Cafe or Handguns category so I chose the first one.

I took my only two handguns with today.  A Smith and Wesson Sigma and a Kel-Tec PF-9.  Both are 9mm.  I purchased six boxes of Winchester Supreme Elite Bonded PDX1 +P 124gr a while ago but never ran them through the guns yet so I figured it should be done.  This was the first time I shot the Sigma with the new Hogue grips on it.  It is a nice add-on, now I just have to reduce the trigger pull by 500%.  8)   The PF-9 is a little bitch when it comes to trigger slap.  I have not shot that many different types of hand guns but this one really makes the trigger finger feel it.

Smith and Wesson Sigma 9mm
15 ft standing with Winchester Supreme Elite Bonded PDX1 +P 124gr
Five shots

Kel Tec PF-9
15 ft standing with Winchester Supreme Elite Bonded PDX1 +P 124gr
Five shots
(The one way on the right was not shot at the same time)

Both the Sigma and PF-9 from 20 ft standing with WWB 115gr

All in all another wonderful day at the range.

Very nice shooting.

I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

I've always thought the PF-9's were cool.  So the trigger isn't so good though?.. Interesting..

Always nice to see groupings like that.

It's not that the trigger is not good, it is smooth and crisp.  I think it is the way the trigger is shaped, when it fires the recoil slaps the trigger into my finger.  It could also be the trigger guard hitting the finger.  The part that is sore is the side that touches the middle finger.  I figured if I am shooting it when I really need it, the last thing I will realize is my trigger finger might be a tad bit sore.
