I remember reading that most of the parts were interchangeable with the standard 1911.
IIRC, Frame, barrel Mag and Barrel bushing were the only ones not interchangeable.

When traveling, I pocket carry a 642 in a nemesis pocket holster.  It's open ended though but I've never seen any buildup whatsoever from lint or other small debris in my pocket. 

I also have the LG-405s on mine and although the recoil is already very manageable, I'm sure you'll benefit more with the little recoil cushion it has when you shoot .357 through yours.

I dry fired mine a lot and got a nice clean trigger now.  I haven't gone to the extent of changing the springs because I prefer a heavier trigger on this firearm.

Yeah I'm not gonna change any springs on it. I like the trigger the way it is. I do need to paint that black front sight. 8)
