That lady cop did a damn good job.  Took rounds and returned fire.  I'm sure he was already down when the next wave of LEOs came in and they ain't allowed to deliver the coup de grace,

when done correctly, hanging snaps the neck.  it should be almost instant death.

I'm not getting down on the cop for what she did or didn't do.  What bothers me is that this is a military base, and it was local cops that did the job.  I must have this all wrong in my mind, but I have always thought that the last place I'd want to cause trouble is a military base.  Not because everyone is armed, I know they aren't, but because those that are armed and charged with protecting the base would be the best of the best.

Now that I like! Plus hanging isn't quick if done in traditonal English manner. They just put on the noose and a few strong guys or winch hoisted you up until you strangled, often with breaks. If the charge was treason, after a few hoists, it was followed by disembowllement, then drawing and quatering.
