Only a half a million jobs lost this week, the recovery is obvious !   :o

WASHINGTON – New claims for unemployment insurance fell more than expected last week, evidence the job market is slowly healing as the economy recovers.

Still, many private economists and Federal Reserve officials worry the nation could be in for a "jobless recovery" as the unemployment rate rises despite some overall economic growth.

The Labor Department said Thursday that first-time claims for jobless benefits dropped to a seasonally adjusted 502,000 from an upwardly revised 514,000 the previous week. That's the fewest claims since the week ending Jan. 3, and below economists' estimates.

The four-week average, which smooths fluctuations, dropped to 519,750, also the lowest in almost a year. It has fallen by more than 20 percent since its peak in the spring.

Lets see,BO was going to create 3 million jobs, Jobs have been disappearing at the rate of more than a million a month, he has been influencing the economy for 12 months, that means over 26 MILLION people have lost their jobs since this chump got elected.
Hey Liberals and "libertarians", I call that "change you deserve" for ignoring all the available information and voting for this POS.

THIS libertarian did NOT vote for BHO & has NEVER voted for a DEM(DIM) presidential candidate.I also do NOT vote for RINO's & firmly believe in punishing both parties for doing their best to destroy my profession, hobby &/or country. Many years ago, when teachers taught & students learned rather than being indoctrinated, a wise old professor TAUGHT that in the USA "The people get what they want.Sadly, they also get what they deserve."

Sadly, he's talking about me. This Libertarian DID vote for BO and has the "Mother Of All Buyers Remorse" buyers remorse. I do not wish to, and will not engage with other board members on a person, I mean topic, we have already beaten half to death. ;D Since you are new, I'll give it to you in a nut shell, I despised Bush. McCain's anti-free speech (McCain-Fiengold) and anti-choice positions made him unacceptable. Barr was an opportunist and a wasted vote and I was dumb enough to believe BO when he said his health care plan was simply to let everyone buy into the federal employee plan, with subsidies for the poor. As far as the 2A, its the only thing I was right about, when I figured there were too many blue dog Dems to get anything passed. If you want to debate this, I will, but PM me.

;D Correct for a change FQ  ;D  Especially that bit about being DUMB (your word, I would have gone with "deluded" ) enough to believe  1) a politician, 2) from CHICAGO ( What on EARTH were you thinking with ? ) one of the 3 most corrupt cities in America, the others being NY and New Orleans. (Washington would be on the list but it was actually relatively honest until well after the Civil war ).
Another thing, who the hell gave Congress any say in MY health care, their regulation is what f-cked it up in the first place, not to mention all the jobs their meddling drove overseas, or allowed to be taken by illegal aliens because they refuse to perform the duties that ARE assigned to them.
Any one that looks at Social security, Medicare, Amtrac, and the Post Office, then says "oh yeah, I want Congress looking after MY health", is an idiot. If that offends you I must sincerely say, TS

wrhall, that Professor wasn't all that well informed. If he knew anything about the Constitution he would have mentioned that this REPUBLIC, is governed by LAWS, it was never intended to be a "dictatorship of those who scream the loudest".

And sadly, we USED to be a republic governed by laws, but are rapidly becoming an oligarchy ruled by a congress senate, and president who have become legends in their own mind.

We are still the greatest Nation in the history of mankind but Washington and to many state capitals have degenerated into third world shitholes of corruption, greed and megalomania.

Tom he was & did.In simple terms,we as a republic, vote for people who are SUPPOSED to vote our wishes.IMO,the problem is not the LAW the problem is that we (just as Rome) have reached the point that neither law, loud voices or intelligence is the final factor.Choices are decided by what the entrenched, reliable voting bloc can deliver & this,in turn, makes them dependent on their pol who can deliver their wish list.
This catch22 is my problem with the GOP. The DIMs are beyond help & horrible for everyone that works, for our country's security & future. The GOP is,sadly,DEM LITE with a little sense about the WORLD (yes Virginia there really are terrorist who LIVE to KILL us) & PRIDE in our past accomplishments (check out BHO's world tour talking points). The GOP is like a football team of unlimited talent that ALWAYS plays SCARED & finds a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.IMO,the Libertarian Party is the ONLY chance to politcally save the USA we(the people of this forum) know & want.IMO,with the world as it now is,that can NOT happen.Election laws, government payouts & payoffs, media bias & education failure make this (a nation-wide Lib victory at the polls) a NO-GO.Things happen & things change & tomorrow should be best day of our life.If it isn't,cowboy up,& WORK on making the next day the best.

I have great faith in Libertarian (classical liberal) positions, but zero faith in the Libertarian  Party. Not only is it full of factional divisions, its more concerned with ideologcal purity than winning elections, even if its for school board or Dog Catcher. But that's how a party, or a movement within a party (the religious right with the GOP as exhibit A) succeeds. Fail to do that and well, you fail. Ask Ron Paul.  The problem for our side is we think that we are so right that anyone should see it and yet stand gob smacked when we get our asses handed to us time and time again. We need to form an alliance between social liberals, FP realists  and fiscal conservatives. That will require a lot of ideological work and persusion. Until it happens though, the republic Jefferson offered us and Madison crafted isn't going to be restored. We just vote for the best Dem or GOP candidate we have because one of them will win, and continue to do so unti we can offer the American people a good and compelling reason to vote for us rather than just against the other guy. What we must do is takes those on the left who believe in personal liberty and show them that the welfare state is nothing but fuzzy hand cuffs. Fuzzy yes, but restraints none the less. We must also show them that all persons are created equal, but all cultures are not, and ours is worth fighting for. Defending liberty and Western civilization is not racism. My great grandfather can apologize for himself, I don't need to do it for him. On the right, we need to kick the theocrats and neo-cons to the curb. Rumsdfeld and Robertson can KMA. We are not not a theocracy, nor are we an empire. We are a democratic republic that should be strong enough to protect its borders, wise enough not to embroil  itself in unecessary foriegn adventures and free enough to prosper by trade based on the principle of lassiez faire. Thus far, the Libertarian party (or any other) hasn't sold that idea, but I sincerly hope they will. Hell, it worked with the Federalist papers, maybe Americans will actually wake up. :-\
