According to recent Rasmussen surveys any group of 3 people in America contains one who is an idiot.

The execution Tuesday of the Washington, D.C. sniper killer and the unfolding investigation of last week’s murder spree at Fort Hood, Texas have again put the spotlight on the death penalty, one of the most hotly contested issues in the United States for years.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 61% of Americans favor the death penalty. Twenty-three percent (23%) oppose capital punishment, and 16% are not sure.

Voter perception of the nation's current course dipped slightly this week, with 33% saying the United States is heading in the right direction, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

How do these bobble headed idiots remember to breath ?

ONE IN THREE!!!  That's only a third of what I figured it to be (self included!).  ;D ;D ;D

Only one in three wouldn't have been able to put obama in office.

In fairness to the idiots, it is kind of hard to get amped up over the death penalty when the condemnded is likely to die of old age before their execution dates. The process is so long and drawn out that it is almost the same as a life sentence, only a lot more expensiv due to mandatory (and necessary) appeals and such. Me, I just don't much care about the issue. Death, or life without parole, I'm good either way as long as they never see daylight again.

FQ, In Capital cases (death penalty) the law requires 1 automatic appeal, many of the following appeals are filed by agenda driven special interest groups often, as in the cases of Gary Gilmore and Timothy McViegh, they are filed AGAINST the stated wishes of the condemned.
You voted for BO didn't you  ::)

Actually, the law has changed. The Court ruled in 1986 that all appeals had to be presented toghther. You can't have five issues and five appeals. You got one bite at the apple. The delay comes from the fact that appellate courts are busy and reviewing death penalty appeals (barring a pending execution date) are not their top priority as their are plenty of pending cases that need a timely answer.

PS You can appeal the appellate court's decision by asking the circuit to sit en banc or go to the SC. Likewise, states (assuming the death sentence is under state law) have their own rules and you can move from the state to federal level if you are denied on the state level. Still once you hit the feds, the general rule is one appeal, unless the SC wants to listen to you and the odds of tha are very small indeed.

Here is my look on things...(remember I work with mostly college graduates)....

Assume EVERYONE you meet is an idiot!

When, eventually, they prove that to be TRUE, there is less dissapointment.

If and when they prove that to be UNTRUE, there is a feeling of elation, a feeling of great joy and wonderment!

Simple!!!!

Me, I'm a moron and I've proved it to myself on more than one occasion!  Actually, I may be insane because I expect the best of people and rarely do I get a result that I expect......

There are 10 types of people in the world:

Those that understand binary,
and those who don't.

I know, it doesn't really apply to the thread, but it's funny.   ;D
