Star-Telegram report
A 48-year-old man man was in critical condition Friday at a Fort Worth hospital after he was shot in the groin during an early-morning domestic disturbance at a home in southeast Tarrant County, officials said.
A 911 caller reported at about 4 a.m. that the man was shot by a 56-year-old woman at a home in the 7400 block of Cabbot Estates Drive, said Terry Grisham, spokesman for the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office.
The man was taken by helicopter to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he had surgery, Grisham said.
The neighborhood is in an unincorporated area of the county, Grisham said.
First responders called for a helicopter when they saw the man had been shot in the groin. The weapon was a "Glock of undetermined caliber," Grisham said.
"It was an unfortunate domestic dispute that ended in gunfire," Grisham said. "Certainly it was not a minor injury."
The woman, Linda Herford, was being held Friday at a Tarrant County jail, facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to jail records.
"Detectives apparently decided she did not have justification to use deadly force," Grisham said.
A bond amount was not yet listed at 4 p.m.
