Title: ¿¿Favorite "Adult Beverage"??
Post by: True_Texan on May 03, 2009, 06:49:48 PM
Just wondering for those that enjoy a drink or 2 every now and then, what would be your favorite?

If you like a mixed drink and want to share the recipe with every one, go for it.

Personally my absolute favorite is beer... Bourbon is a very VERY close second.

Beergaritas are also pretty dang good:

Can of frozen Lime Aid
3 - 12oz bottles/cans of Mexican* beer (regular beer works just fine too)
8 to 12oz of Tequila
3oz Triple Sec
Ice if personally desired

Combine all ingredients into large pitcher. Mix and enjoy!

*Mexican beer is any brand of Mexican made beer. EX. Corona, Dos XX, Tecate, Modelo, etc.

As requested....

I tended bar for several years after my enlistment.  The basics don't change much, just adjust the ingredients to your taste..

2/3 cup top-quality tomato juice (I always liked V8 juice)
2 to 3 ounces top-shelf vodka, depending on strength
1 teaspoon horseradish (I like it hot)
6 shakes tobasco sauce
1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
Juice of 1/2 large lime
1/8 teaspoon sea salt (can substitute, try seasoned salt)
1/8 teaspoon freshly-ground black pepper
Celery stalk

Mix it seperate from the ice so you don't dilute the drink and pour over ice to serve...enjoy!!!

Got a 1.75 liter bottle of that sitting next to me on the desk right now. Come on over and have a glass! And the variety here is the 101 version, not that wussy 80 stuff.

Though I don't drink spirits since 1994, I did have quite a taste for aged, mellow and expensive single malt scotch.

Glenlivet, Glenfiddich or Glengoyne will do very nicely.....neat or with a few cubes.....

On a cold day on the ski slopes, a Rusty Nail was wonderful to warm the whatevers......scotch and Drambuie on the rocks...

Casual just give me a friggin Budweiser or a Guiness....

Car bombs... Good and they go with the theme of explosions and destruction. Who here can honestly say they don't like a good explosion?

Beer: Shiner Bock, Alaska Amber or McCewan's Stout
Spirits: Barban Court rhum (don't ask me about the "h" all I know is that its the only good thing to come out of Haiti) or Porfidio tequila (out of business now but I still have a stash of their single barrel anejo, screw ammo, I know how to hoard the important stuff ;D ;D ;D ).

Tequila, neat, no ice - like it was meant to be enjoyed.  I've kind of turned into a tequila snob so it has to be 100% agave.  Preferably reposado.

Life's too short to drink rotgut.

If it's aged even longer does the tequila mellow and is it more expensive as the aging period increases?

Just curious.....never was much for tequila but then I've never had any of the good stuff and never will...

It's just like whiskey and other liquors aged in barrels. Añejo is the "aged" tequila and the most expensive.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tequila

There are actually family reserves of tequila at Jose Cuervo (Reserva de la Familia)
http://www.tequilasource.com/cuervoreserva/

That is some pretty pricey stuff.

I don't like beer anymore so I drink mixed drinks. I especially like Margaritas when I eat out. When I drink at home it's whiskey or rum mixed with whatever soda pop I have.

Beer

Guiness
Sam Adams
Shiner Bock

Tequila

Don Ramon Reposado
Don Eduardo Anejo
El Tesoro Platinum

The first two are straight...the third is for margeritas

Single Malt Scotch

Bowmore 18 year old.

Wine
Syrah. Preferably from the Anderson Valley. Or my friend's private patch. Goes great with venison and wild pork.

My wife's homemade Blackberry Brandy. Great for dessert.

To answer the Tequila question...depends. There is tequila-tequila and 100% de agave. 100% de agave is the best. Silver/Platinum/Blanco is straight from the distilling tanks. Straight agave flavors. Great for 'ritas and some are good for sipping or shots. Reposado is the next level. Usually very good if done well and right now my favorite in the Don Ramon (only available in Mexcio...my friend bought me a magnum a few weeks back...and no, niether of us has the Flu). Reposado is aged 8 months to a little over a year in casks. Different recipes from different distillers.
Anejo is the most aged and can be the most mellow experience in tequila you'll ever experience. They do special anejos's as well that are aged longer than normal anejo. Aged 1-3 years in casks. These are sipping tequilas best served in brandy snifters, not shot glasses.
Cuervo is not the best. It can be good and has it's place.
Here's a short list of really good ones:
D'antano de LaCasa Siete Leguas (the premier Seven Leagues distiller extra anejo)
El Tesoro De Don Felipe Platinum (great in 'ritas and very good neat)
Don Eduardo Silver (Same as Tesoro...but Tesoro had better flavor neat)
Herradura Hacienda del Cristero
Casa Noble Crystal
And my current Fav...
Don Ramon Reposado...neat.

Hey Ichiban...I didn't mean to out snob you here...I love my Tequila! Matter of fact...it's that time!

Pilsner Urquell, mostly,...; when I commercial fished, it was whatever was cold when I got back to the dock.

Now its Mojitos, and/or good wine, Russian River Valley, Sonoma, It;s something Kalifornia still does well. (Thank God)/.

Hazerita's when it's a looooong weekend, (Thanks Haz), my wife knows what to look for......

I used to love Crown Royal and good Tequila (still do) but as I am not the Spring Chicken anymore, I find dark liquor makes me regret it more,

Oh, BTW, double Bloody Mary's for the morning golf rounds helps immensely.

Shiner Bock
Shiner Black

I don't drink anymore, but when I did these were my favorites.

Beer:
Sam Adams     Boston Lager, Boston Ale, Hefeweizen, Cherry Wheat, Scotch Ale
Guiness
Porters, ales, and lagers from several different micro breweries
Even though I prefer dark, heavy beers, I still like Rolling Rock and Corona on a hot day.
I hate most high volume domestics, and absolutely no Budweiser.

Liquor:
Wild Turkey
Maker's Mark
Jim Beam
Capt. Morgan

Mixed:
Any of the above with Coke.
Whiskey sour
Boiler makers
Flaming Dr. Pepper
Margarita... the only way I'll drink ta'killya'   ;D

Wine:
I'm a red man.  Nothing too tannic or floral, but other than that, I'm game.
Kind of a shame I don't drink anymore, I have several bottles of good wine just collecting dust.
I guess I'm prepared for the next special occasion, however.

Swoop

Yes, yes and hell yes. An anejo (usually 5-10 years) aged in an oak cask used to age brandy is an entirely different beast that your average tequila. It is most definately designed to be sipped slowly, neat, like a good scotch. I got into these because I like to backpack and wanted something portable that didn't require ice. Despite the fact that I am from the south, I detest bourbon as its too sweet, and scotch is a bit too strong. A good well aged tequila on the other hand is perfect to sip at the end of the day. I even bought one of those old time blue flecked enamel cups, only in a demitass size to drink it from. (It came with a backpacking esspresso maker, basically a metal resevoir with a filter and a brass pipe, like a still, that put it into the little metal cup ove a single burner camp stove. I got it just to annoy the hell out of a friend I was going on a week long backpacking trip with who thought I was a coffe snob {he was right}. I knew it would drive him bat shit crazy. The darn thing actually works though and is the best $15 I ever spent at REI.)

Beer:

Yuengling Lager (America's oldest brewery) Usually the only thing I drink.

Went to a friends 40th B-day party last night. I don't know what the drink was called but it was:

Crown Royal
Peach Schnapps
splash of cranberry

Tasted like koolaid (not the glock kind) It was an ugly night and even uglier morning, but they went down smoooooooth. ;D

I am pretty simple.
1) Miller light beer, every day.
2) Red stripe for special occasions.
3) Bacardi Special Select Dark rum, sweet and smooth, not expensive, if you mix it, you usually won't taste it , unless you  go real heavy.
4) El Jimador, reposado, nice tequila, and not top drawer price.

As far as mixed drinks, Marqueritas are a favorite, top drawer on the rocks, of course, Tequila, fresh lime juice and grand Marnier. And a good salt rim.

Bloody Mary, oh hell yes, with the spicy, home made mix, left to marinate at least 24 hrs, to let the peppers and garlic infuse. Probably Tanqueray, instead of Vodka.

for those that like true rotgut tequila;
mescal is tequila that's been brewed outside of tequila mexico. it's the same drink but only that which is brewed in tequila can be called tequila, you know like champaigne is called espumante if it's from elsewhere. either way the stuff is pure evil...  :P

When it comes out 195 proof... 4 ounces at a time will do. HAHAHAHAHA!

I have to know now, what is the infamous "Hazaritas" people are talking about?

If I remember right, mescal is just "tequila" made with agave instead of blue agave... Which in Mexico, only blue agave made tequila can really be called Tequila.

Was weened on Little Kings, Jim Beam and Clear Springs or Everclear 190.

Now that I have matured I prefer:
Beer: Pete's Wicked Brew Rasberry, Pabst Blue Ribbon and my domestic mainstay Coor's Light.
Foreign would be Guinness, Bass Pale Ale for a Black and Tan, Boddington's English Pub Ale and the occasional Corona or Dos Equis if I am in Mexico.

Tequila: Don't touch the stuff. Seen too many people as a former LEO to see that you become two people drinking that and that is either a stripper or a fighter. Of the two, they can go back and forth at a moments notice. Normally, if the eyes go black like a shark you had better be ready to fight.  ;D

Vodka: Grey Goose

Whiskey: Crown Royal on the rocks. If there is some extra money hanging around, Crown Royal Extra Rare. Almost $200 a bottle but gentleman, it is nectar of the God's.

6oz of frozen Lime Aid concentrate.  Do not mix … just take the 6oz. and dump it in a blender

6oz. of your favorite tequila

6oz. of beer (pilsners or “light” beers work best)

3oz. of really cheap white wine

Add ice and blend (Taste great “on the rocks”.  However, keep in mind that they are a little more powerful given the lack of blended ice)

actually you can brew that evil stuff with any kind of agave, just that some is smoother than other types. I spent a few years in Mex. and spent some quality time learning about the local firewater. you'll also find tequila with a worm in the bottle. the reason for that is to tell you what kind of agave was used. certain types of worm live in only one kind of agave plant.

Will tell you how to win a bet with the worm in a full bottle of tequila...

Bet someone you can drink the worm at the bottom of the bottle. When they take the bet, put your thumb over the mouth of the bottle, tip it up and wait for the worm to touch your thumb. Pop your thumb off for just a second to get a small shots worth and the worm. YOU WIN!!!

That's very true. Guess it is only a WIN if the money was good. But when it comes to alcohol, I'm not picky. Every time someone offers me a beer and then asks what kind, I tell them it doesn't matter. My 2 favorite kinds of beer are FREE and COLD.... And it doesn't even have to be COLD.

Too true about the beer, although there are exceptions. When I was in grad school in Austin we (meaning about a hundred or so, grad students, went to The Crown and Anchor Pub, the usual happy hour joint on a Thursday afternoon. Why the grad student population, all of whom had 8:30 am sections on Friday chose Thursday night to get plastered, I have no idea). Anyway it was damn hot, as only a Texas September early evening can be and there was FREE BEER!!! The good folks from Miller had set up about ten iced kegs of Miller Clear, their answer to Zima, (Remember that? I thought not.) They were GIVING it away. Not in little sample cups but in frosty pint glasses. The sad thing was that a bunch of impoverished grad students, who were getting by on the princely sum of $841 a month, chose to poor the swill out and pay $7 a pitcher for Shiner Bock. That, my friends, is bad beer. The combination of the somewhat pathetic pleas of the Miller folks trying to get us to "try it with food" or give it "one more chance and let it linger a bit" combined with the near hysterics of a girl whose dad was a Shiner distributer would have been heartbreakig to anyone who was not as cold hearted as I am. I had trouble getting the Shiner to my mouth, I was laughing so hard. Thus proving that even destitute, professional drunks do have standards.

Basically any type of whiskey.. Usually straight on the rocks.. Sometimes without the rocks.. Depends on if the particular bar is charging for "Rocks"  (I couldn't believe it myself) and sometimes mixed with little and I do mean little Sprite.

Jim Beam family is my whiskey of choice.

P.S. I had to amend this post as I later remembered it wasn't all the Yeungling's fault.  I initiated my obsessed evening of drinking with several Crown and Cokes.  So, the Yuengling just added fuel to an already blazing fire.   ;)

Went to the NRA convention in Kansas City 25+ years ago and ended up at Annie's Santa Fe on the Plaza for dinner.  The specialty of the house was an ordinary "Margarita".  Boy were they good - not sure why they were special but they were!  They sold a ton of them too.  They had 4-6 of the old fashioned drink dispensers (the kind where the drink squirted up thru a tube and against the top).  They would empty them almost as fast as they could fill um up.  Went back 3 or 4 times that weekend.  Oh yes,  the Mexican food was top shelf also.

Crown Royal - neat or w/a Touch of Class (water & spalsh lemon)

B&C (bourbon & Coke®); Knob Creek, Maker's Mark or Blanton's...generally you'll start here with 2 or 4 on the rocks before adding the pop!  At that time you might as well switch to the cheap stuff and save some money when adding the Coke®.  ~burp~

Last summer I bought a few bottles of Everclear and made Frank's Hard Lemonade. It was pretty good. I also mixed Everclear with apple juice and it tasted exactly like German ApfelKorn (apple schnapps). Then I had Everclear and Powerade when I ran out of other mixers. I bought that Everclear to make jello shots with but each time I bought some I ended up finishing the bottle before I got around to making them.

My favorite rum is 160 proof Stroh rum from Austria. It makes a rum and Coke that tastes like butter rum lifesavers candy. I also like Asbach German cognac mixed with Coke. You can mix it half and half for shooters or make it weaker like a regular drink. I found out my friend's beverage of choice, Rich & Rare, is a good mixer because it doesn't have much flavor. I have a bottle in my freezer instead of my usual Jim Beam.

Ahh, the Purple Jesus. Kool Aid, (Glock, Obama, rust bucket or whatever flavor you prefer ;D), everclear and a variety of chopped citrus fruit in a plastic bucket, and you have teenage bliss. (assuming that bliss equals lots of vomiting the next morning).

Purple Jesus Kool Aid? We called it Purple Passion. It is something I can't even smell without horrible memories of me when I was a senior in high school.. after a country pasture party... begging..and I mean BEGGING God to just take me ......LOL
my god I was sick..
Then of course  when I was 29..there was the 2 bottles Berrigers wine that my girlfriend and I drank while we were all out on the lake all day in 110 degree day.......... Now I am telling you the truth guys..
I really DID think I talked to Jesus that night.. he was beckoning me to come with him... I actually was still sick and half drunk at 10 the next day! YUCK!
And then of course a few years after that.... The Too Much Tequila made its way to me one night. Not being alone in doing this.....  I seemed to lose what teeny amount of inhibitions I had and ran naked through the Hilton's water sprinklers.... :-[ *lord have mercy*
Had a hell of a good time............but.....
Needless to say........
Haven't touched any of them EVER again..  :P :P

Now that I have grown older and wiser ( yeah right) I like  a very very light Bacardi Lemon' with crushed ice and and extra 2 slices of fresh lemon.

or a Bud Lime......or a Corona ......  8)

I'm really not much of a drinker.. unless there is a dance floor and country music playing.. ;D

I was stupid about 18 years ago and spent a night in jail.  Decided I never wanted to be there agian so I don't drink anymore.  When I did drink, very cold beer in long neck bottles was my favorite.  Usually Budwieser, but any beer would do.  As strange as it may sound, beer on the rocks can be very good.  That was born of neccessity late one night decades ago when an old sweetheart stopped by to see me at my parents house.   The only alcohol available was unchilled beer, so we poured it over ice and sat talkng on the pourch till the sun came up.

Used to like drinking shots, chase with beer, then chase with more shots, then more beer.  Usually Jack Daniels, Schnapps, or Amaretto (sp) sometimes Yukon Jack or Wild Turkey, but have tried almost everything.  Had a friend that would mix Jack Daniel and Yukon Jack and called it a Double Jack.

Made Hazariitas for the guys at deer camp last fall.  The one guy was is no stranger to adult beverages refused to have any the second night as "that drink kicked my ass last night".  The morning after the second night of Hazarittas there was about half a pitcher left and half a jug of Bloody Mary mix left, so that morning was the creation of Bloody Rittas.  The guys drinking them thought they were prety good.

Had a friend that insisted of always having a jug of Lectric Lemonade on hand everywhere.    He travled with the stuff.  His version was a quart bottle of 100 proof Smirnoff vodka poured in a clean gallon milk jug then filled with lemonade.  Only took a couple of those to seriously impair you.  He especially liked passing off  Lectric Lemonade on the unintiated.  Many never knew what hit them so quick.  He ran out one night, so we picked up another bottle, but the liquour store was out of lemonade and the grocery store was closed.   He poured the vodka into the jug, then cruised through the drive thru at the fast food place and ordered a milk jug of lemonade.  The girl didn't have a clue so he drove up to the window and handed her the jug and told her to fill it up with lemonade.  She asked if she should dump it out first and he about went nuts getting her not to.  She did fill it up and didn't even charge him for the lemonade, but had  drink of it straight from the jug.  He also use to make a killer Bloody Mary of his own concoction.

Have had a few bottles of the Tequila or mescal or whatever it is with the worm in it.  Supposedly the worm was a Peyote worm that was hatched inside of a peyote bud and then ate the bud as it grew absorbing the hulucinegenic qualities of the peyote.  Did eat the worm once and didn't notice anything.  Made chilie with the end of another bottle and put the worm in the chilie.  I got the stuff in Texas and supposedly at least one of the bottles had been smuggled in from Mexico.  That bottle was stolen during a break in when I was in college.

Now I just drink fake beer.  The non alcohol stuff.  Kaliber, I think made by Guiness is the best.  I have had friends drink several of them before they realized it was NA.

I mean no offense at all by this... Must also warn a very VERY tasteless joke it about to be revealed.

Non-Alcoholic beer is like 'eating out' your sister.... It may taste the same but it just ain't right!

Tasteless indeed! Kaliber is actually quite good, and I do enjoy an NA beer as I really don't like sweet drinks of any sort. As far as your "joke", the reason I'm not still shudering with disgust is the image of a wet and naked M'lette running through the sprinklers.;D (sorry Marshall)

Start with straight Crown, and as the evening goes on add some Coke to slow things down.

I enjoy beer when grilling or BBQing, or at the office late at night ... none of you are from here so I can say this (I was sworn to secrecy prior to being being given the gift bag) ... My Pastors brought me some Fat Tire the other day when I was really busy and they sensed a stress overload  ;D  Now that is what I call Pastoral counseling  ;D

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet, but you can't go wrong with some good ol' WHITE LIGHTNIN'!  Maybe it's a regional thing, but back in the day a good batch of "shine" was hard to beat.  Especially when you load the jar with your choice of fruit.  If you go that route, you don't even need to drink it, just eat a few pieces of fruit and your howling at the moon.   ;D  Of course, a little too much and you'll be "barking" at the grass.   :o

There are still a few folks making the stuff in my neck of the woods. But you gotta know them and how they distill the stuff before you drink it. There was one outfit using old car radiators for steam coils (complete with lead-based solder).
If it's done right, it's goooooooood stuff.
If it's done wrong, it'll kill ya.

Right after my wife and I got married, I had a batch that I had made (er, um I know nothing) from blueberries that I got from her father's orchard. dang good stuff.
She threw it out one day because she didn't know what it was (I had it in a mason jar in the back of the fridge).   :o

I still have not let her forget that one.

Our office manager keeps a mason jar in her office in case of snake bite, zombie attack, rabies, Yankee invasion or something.

It beats drinking Sterno filtered though a loaf of french bread. I worked with a gentleman who drove for the Red Ball Express and that was their drink of choice in 1945.

The only field expediant cocktail I had was grain alcohol and Tang. Once was more than enough.

Sterno filtered through bread??!!! Good God, I like a good buzz as much as the next guy, but yikes! It was like in high school, when the exotic buffo toad gained a foot hold here in Florida. They excrete a neuotoxin from their necks when stressed. It will kill a small dog, but in humans its a hallucionagin. The in thing for 9th graders was to cath one, squeeze, and lick. I actually turned a pressure cooker into a nice little still. Just set it on your stove and you're good to go. Made it where I didn't even ruin the thing so it still works as a normal pressure cooker... The wife was happy about that part.

Made some white lightening a few months back from an old sour mash recipe my grandpa had. Tonsils have healed finally.

Just a friendly jab........can't knock the Rhum, I've never tried it............ used to drink a lot of Bacardi (151) rum in my younger days because it was really cheap. Then I found Golden Grain (190 proof) mixed with green Gatorade for cheap drunks.

The jab is fine. Just don't mention Barbancourt and gatorade in the same sentance again. ;D Seriously Peg, if you like rum at all, its the real deal, dark, not too sweet, no spices or any of that crap, and a nice little anise flavored finsh. Sip (not drink) it neat, or put it over rocks strong, and add coke, little by little as you work your way down. It should start strong and then mellow as you get through the glass. Again, the only good thing to come out of Haiti.

Actually my son's a county LEO there.  They've actually busted up a couple of stills along with a few random meth labs.  Anyway, the drink of choice down that way seems to be...Lone Star Light.

I drink the occasional case, I mean can of Lone Star. Just love the slogan. "Lone Star, National beer of Texas." Or "Lone Star, because everything else is imported."

Oh yeah, FQ. If you ever find yourself in Luling, don't pass up the chance to eat at Luling City Market. That is the food of the gods right there. Goes great with Shiner. But whatever you do, don't ask for a fork... I love sitting in there eating and hear someone walk to the front counter and ask for a fork. The nicest response you'll get is, "We don't have forks. This is BBQ. You eat it with your hands." Most of the time though, they basically will bite the head off anyone asking for one. Love them grumpy women at the front.  ;D

Step it up a notch then...Add a beer to that and you got beergaritas.

The old saying goes, "Beer before liquor, never been sicker. Liquor before beer, you're in the clear". But it never says anything about beer and liquor at the same time.  ;D

BTW, that saying hasn't applied to me since sophomore year in high school. Yes yes, I know... "BAD Texan, BAD!" It's a small town, there was nothing else to do around here back then.

Rocks Rita made with a shot of Sauza Tres Generaciones, 1/3 shot each of Cointreau, Triple Sec and Grand Marnier, drop a few ice cubes in a glass and fill with fresh lime juice. The Tres Generaciones also makes one of the smoothest ta-kill-ya shots.

Crown Royal straight up or Crown & Coke or Crown & 7.

Forgot to post this one... It's called Mind Erasers:

2 oz vodka
2 oz Kahlua coffee liqueur (any coffee liqueur works)
2 oz tonic water

Pour gently in layers over ice using a spoon as a diffuser. Pour the liquid over the back side of a spoon placed over the ice so the layers don't mix too much: 1st/bottom layer is Vodka, 2nd/middle layer is Kahlua, 3rd/top layer is Tonic. Drink as A SHOT through a straw from the bottom of the glass (Vodka followed by Kahlua followed by Tonic). Just suck it up through the straw all in one go.

I'll play,

When beer is involved it is Guiness hands down my favorite. I do like the Sam Adams family but nothing comes close to Guiness.

Really more than beer I love my Cab's. Cabernet Sauvignon made by anybody is just good stuff.

As far as the hard stuff is concerned I like Jamison Irish Whiskey. Plain or...

Take one cup of spring water and one cup of sugar and one to two sticks of cinnamon, mix in a sauce pan and set on low. Heat water and sugar until right before simmering, DO NOT BOIL, stir frequently. When it reaches a thickness that it sticks to the spoon pour in a bottle of Jamison or other and let warm back up, stiring frequently. Pour contents back into bottle, go out and shovel some snow and then enjoy.

Cinnamon Sipping Whiskey...

My work drinks are just Shiner and Knob Creek.

My  2  favorites are;

Capt Morgan and Water.   50/50

American Honey (wiskey) and Water.   50/50

Keep in mind, using water instead of Coke or Pepsi is better because most people get their hangovers from Carbination of the drinks ( beer also ). Using water also is good for "the morning after" - you know you drank a lot  BUT  are not sick/puking and the head is not pounding. You can funtion very well if you over did it the night before.

Got off work 2 hours ago and will verify my reason/method of preference in another hour or 2.....Cheers.

Oh.. Just finished a bottle of Eagle Rare, can't say that I'm going to buy it again.  Woodford Reserve is good.  I mostly drink Jim Beam and the Jim Beam family of spirits. (knob creek bakers basil hyden and bookers)  When I have the money to splurge I get a bottle of Bookers Bourbon.  Extreamly smooth and Extreamly potent.  126 proof!!!

Been looking at Bookers, but fifty bucks a bottle is abit out of my range for an unknown, maybe one of these days.  Can't think of anything better to spend my tax return on...  I was quite impressed by Eagle Rare for the price, Twin Liquors had it on sale a few weeks back for twenty dollars a bottle, bought two.  Haven't ever had Jim Beam, particular make to start with?

I mostly drink white label whiskey all of the others are good as well but most bars don't carry Black label or rye or wheat.  Jim doesn't have so much of the wood taste that Jack or Johnny does.  Some say that is what makes those brands good.    IMO-FWIW

*No idea what proof it would be, but had to be stout. The less beaded down the better. Never tasted any as good as his. All that gets made around here these days seems to have more in common with Kerosine than actual Moonshine. He's was smoother than any Bourbon or Triple Malt i ever seen. me & daddy have a 1/2 gallon a piece aging for that special occassion as its all that's left of a receipe that's 4 generations old. The batch its from finished working off the day i was born, 11-14-83, so its a little over 26 years old. May not make sense to many people but it's a tradition in our family. Harlan Boyett was a tough old WWII vet that took alot of pride in his service to this country, his familt, his farm, & that Shine receipe. We have it written down but its doubtful we ever attempt to make any cause i doubt either of us have the know-how. We did drag one of his old still out of the woods a couple years ago. Cleaned it up as good as new, and have it proudly displayed in Daddy's shop.

My family is Shriner's.. so  I was attending one of our Shriner Parties and uhhh you might say I kinda got caught up in the party. ::)
I haven't lived the fact down yet that after a couple I started to tell them to "not make them so strong".. hahaha
Considering they are 100% Grey Goose vodka....I don't think there was any way to lighten them up.. LOL
Got to the point where I just didn't care..  ;D ;D
We have the Potentate's Ball in March.. I'm gearing up for that.. Hopefully I will be able to contain my self a bit more.( but I'm not promising anything) haha
Maybe I should stick to Lemon Bacardi ..   :)

Favorite adult beverage......

Crusader Rabbet's home brew.   DAMN good!  Nice creamy head (DON'T go there!), great flavor (the dark is nice and complex with just a little bite and nice follow through), and a real nice 'kick'. (my guess is about 11% ;) )
