Down Range Cafe / Re: Tomahawk Cruise Missiles To Ukraine
« Last post by Rastus on October 29, 2025, 09:19:15 AM »
Putin is throwing a temper tantrum once again.   He tested a nuclear powered cruise missile and announced it successful yesterday.  We tested similar nuclear power for airplanes and missiles...the are too damn dirty spewing radiation all around.  Flying Chernobyls I'd say.

Now today Putin says he successfully tested his 65' nuclear submarine drone...I'm sure it worked the tech is out there.  He threatens, once again, to outfit the sub drone with a 100 megaton Tsar Bomba salted with cobalt to poison the tidal wave detonated by the sub drone which would inundate a whole lot of coast line.

Part bluster part real threat.  It looks like Cold Ware II is on big time.  I feel like we need to focus on our nuclear deterrence with China & Russian whilst cleaning up the anti-American hoards that have invaded our country as well as the misguided ones who hate our country.  If we don't do these things it may spiral into a pile of something we don't want.

Handguns / What Are Firing Pins Made Of?
« Last post by alfsauve on October 27, 2025, 11:12:22 AM »
As I said the first thing I do with a new Smith is put in an extended firing pin.

But I got to thinking.   I always measured the firing pins by their full length.  Stock S&W are ~0.49" while the extended ones are ~0.51".  This morning it occurs to me that may the more important distance is the actual length of the pin rather than the base.  Though now I'm thinking both are important.  Anyway, I go down stairs to measure, when I dropped on and discovered I can't pick it up with my magnetic retrieval tool.  None of the stock S&W pins are steel, it turns out.  Haven't tried the extended one because it's lousy day outside and I don't feel like stripping the gun.  I'll measure it next time I'm inside it. What is the integral firing pin on S&W Revolvers, J/K/L/N, made of?  Don't guess, give  reference.    The guess is titanium.  S&W mentions titanium in reference to their 1911 firing pins, but I couldn't find anything about revolver ones.  APEX, TK Custom and Cylinder and Slide don't say.  Midwest Gun Works says the Apex is steel, but they're a dealer and my have just assumed, as I've done all theses years.

…..I got the disparaged burger.  Same story as everywhere these days.

You know it’s all tongue in check, right.

Was in Seiverville(think Dolly Parton) a year or so back and thought we drop in Paula Dean’s restaurant.
For some reason we ask several people coming out how their experience was and receive all negative responses.  We passed.  Further investigation showed there are no restaurants in that area above 2 stars.  I think a lot of the novelty chains are probably the same. With all respect to the Parrot Heads I’m not surprised by your experience.

Edit:

I looked around a little, and I found some posts by Timothy - They all show him as a guest. He must have deleted his account when he left.

I think it went away a couple of years ago when there was the changeover.  I might be way wrong though.

Regardless, if anyone is in contact with our "lost members" please invite them back.

Well, dog gone it...quit a hatin' on me. It was a disparaged burger that they handed to me!

And my wife's cold meal made it out...oh...about 15-20 minutes after I got the disparaged burger.  Same story as everywhere these days.
