I don't usually nitpick, Tom, but I will here.  A Marksman badge is usually referred to as a "pizza box"


An Expert badge is the highest qualification, and that's the one that's called a "toilet seat"


Incidentally, the middle of the 3 is called a Sharpshooter badge, and is nicknamed the "iron cross"

Must be a new thing, remember, I been OUT 30 years  
We just called expert "Crossed Rifles", had to check, I thought they still had the 03 on it but mine has Garand's like the one pictured.

I wonder why AMU is out performing the USMC at all shooting competitions.

     That's actually been a point of contention with the Commandant of the Marine Corps, and he's decided we need to rededicate to it.  For awhile there, we just weren't focusing on competition like the other services.  That has now changed, and hopefully we'll start making a better showing at the matches.
