1960 Polish Milled Receiver AK-47's With Pics!
« on: December 10, 2009, 02:43:24 PM »
I just got back from J&G Sales in Prescott a while ago. I bought 2, of the 1960 Polish Milled receiver AK-47's they just got in. These guns are nice! Not cheap, but very good quality. They come with a bayonet and scabbard. If you get one go for the non laminated wood. That is what both of mine are, and they don't have the nails in them like the WASR 10 Romanian guns. The wood on these guns varies greatly. The salesman brought out 5 guns for me, plus the display model, so I had a nice choice. J&G only got 20 of these in, and they don't know when or even if they'll be getting any more. It's hit or miss. I bought 2, the salesman told me he put one aside for himself, so that leaves 17 when I walked out of the store at 8:30 this morning. Classic Arms is also selling these, but I don't know how many they have. For anyone interested in a milled receiver AK, jump on this. You won't be disappointed. Milled receiver AK-47's are getting harder to come across at a decent price. These rifles are really nice, and show excellent workmanship.  Bill T.

Well, not really.....nice find, Bill.

Cool for you Bill.
One reason (Besides manufacturing cost ) the  milled receivers are getting scarce is that the East European factories that make semi auto AK's also make the Full auto ones and full auto AK's tend to crack milled receivers, apparently the stamped sheet metal that it was designed to use flexes more to absorb the stress.
Not a problem for semi though.

to add, the milled retain the heat for a ridiculously long time. FullAutos can get SO hot and stay hot long enough to lose temper in the steal.

P.S. I love the Polish AK's man, very jealous .

For some reason the one bayonet is showing an almost "rusty" condition. It is not. Both of them are beautifully blued. I never thought I would get a milled AK-47. They just seem to be disappearing so fast off the market, and for extremely high prices. I feel blessed of sorts in being able to grab these 2.   Bill T.

That sounds about right for the size, it works out to a 3-5 pound receiver and 8-10 pounds of chips.
Figure it's a block of steel 1.25 -1.5 inches thick X  (8inches ? ) the length of the receiver X  (3-4 inches ? ) the height of the receiver.
Note : I had to measure the width of an AK one time and I remember the Dim. but the L and H are guessed from a mental image.
