My sympathies. I have made some dumb trades myself. I have to say though that you are 100 percent correct on that Ruger M77 .270. Maybe I just got lucky with mine, but not only is it the prettiest rifle I own, (I like the lines) it is the most accurate I've ever shot. I would sooner give you my truck than that rifle. I'd sell the whole TC, buy a New England Arms break barrel for turkey (figure about $75 used, I mean hell, you're shooting something the size of a foot stool at 30 yards, how much gun do you need?) and get a new Ruger, you'll be a much happier camper.

I regret not buying a winchester model 70 in .270, off a guy that was hard up for money. He wanted $250 for it. I heard the price and thought it was hot. Found out it was not. Still kicking myself.

TFR, that second shot is why I never bought one even though employees got a 40% discount.

1986 saved up the then 450 bucks to buy a steyer AUG, and just before I went to the gunshop, a friend offered up a Browning Citori that he had tricked up for skeet shooting, back bored barrel, recoil reducer etc... for the same money, I had always wanted one. I could not hit S**T with it, a few weeks later the assault weapon ban went into place and the AUG skyrocketed.

H&R 999 breaktop revolver .22 rf, 9 shots always wanted one, got a 4" model new, 4" groups at 10'.

Hard to believe, M25 Whitefeather, Carlos Hathcock model M1A, at 1st it was great, with my first reloads 3" at 300 yards, then next session, 3" at 100 yards, found the scope had physically broken inside, got the scope repaired and had a mildot reticle installed at the same time. Back to the range, no change, shot 10 different kinds of ammo, and had other guys shoot it, 2.5 to 3", my standard grade shoots 1 to 1 1/2" with iron sights. sent it back to springfield they said they rebedded the trigger group, but I had it sold before it came back, never shot it again. Replaced it with an M40 marine corp sniper rifle.

I own 2 old contenders, bought circa 1979, love them, I sold all my barrels after buying an ultralite arms bolt action pistol and now only have the .22rf barrels one pistol and one carbine, plus a 16" .223 carbine barrel, they all shot well if not excellent.

I have bought several guns that I thought might fit a need but wound up selling them.

Here's one that comes to mind:
I bought a S&W 325 and traded my snubby too to get it. I knew after I walked out of the store it was a bad move. I did not keep the revolver 30 days before I traded it for a S&W 649 (an upgrade over my previous 442) and the world was right again. Another pistol I regret selling is my CZ P-01. That pistol really fit my hand well. One day I'm going to buy another one or its larger version.

Right now I have someone who wants my Springfield MC Operator and I'm not letting it go. There is something about the pistol that I just like.....

I think part of this is becoming aware of what one likes. Sometimes one doesn't know until they go through the experience.

What are you asking for it Eric?  12 or 20 gauge?

PM me if you want.

I dont want to deal with the hassle of shipping it. I would rather unload it locally

If it was one of the old ones...yup, find a soft spot and kick it.  If it is one of the newer models then maybe not.  I had a Model 70 Coyote in 22-250...could not get the thing to shoot better than 1 foot groups at 100 yards...took a beating on that one.  Wish I had never bought it.

And then I have bought another SR9 this past Friday...waiting on the connector sales (soon they say) from Ghost to move it to 5.5 lbs....I had the IWB from 5 Shot Leather...I had to fill it up.   8)
