What's for Christmas Dinner
« on: December 24, 2009, 05:48:39 PM »
Being from the deep south, that would be noon lunch for the rest of you guys.  I don't do the seafood gumbo for traditional Christmas, but I know people who do.  Myself...we're having a pork roast well stuffed with green onions and garlic and a clear corn starch gravy.....
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.
It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.

Melanie is going to cook a huge beef roast in the crock pot starting late tonight, and simmer it in Garlic sauce until late in the morning. Early tomorrow she will start a big Lasagna. We get tired of the Turkey deal, so she does traditional and Italian. We'll eat on all of it for a week or more!  Bill T.

Not actually sure what we are having for Christmas dinner.  All the in-laws were supposed to be here, but that has been pushed off a couple days.  We are going in to Mother-in-law's apartment for a meal with everyone there.  Once everyone gets here the official meal will be meatballs, greenbean hotdish, cheesy hashbrowns, rice pudding, home made bread, and home made ice cream ... we actually made the ice cream and party mix today and started on it ... they snooze they lose!

Smoked Turkey breast, and Steaks in my Smoker, and I'll cook some mashed potatoes and stuffing, with Gravy, Wined Cranberries, and Cherry Pie with Hagen Daas.

My Stepdad passed on December 22nd last year, so my mom and I are both pretty bummed. Neither of us feel up to the hassel of doing the traditional feast/party/family get toghther. We both went to Carrabas for Christmas Eve. The cool thing about this place (better than average for a chain, but that's it food wise. Its just sort of the the neighborhood restaraunt.) is that folks remembered. The meal was comped and folks payed their respects, as it was something of a family tradition to to show up two Thursdays a month for a family dinner. I honestly don't remember what I ate. What I do remember is the wait staff, manager, and nodding acquaitences paying their respects. A very nice and unexpected Christmas gift.

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can’t do is ignore them
