Ordered my Rock River 6.8 Upper tonight...
« on: December 24, 2009, 08:53:11 PM »
now I believe I will have a two to three month wait before it arrives.  I am looking forward to getting it and will post pics once it arrives.  I went with an A4 flat top with the standard mid-length forearm.  Now I have to decide on a scope.  It will be used for hunting hogs and deer, so I will probably go with a 3-9 or something like that.  Merry Christmas all! ;D

Good pick-up! A bushnell elite is hard to beat at the price. Also think about an eotech if you're working under 200 yards. I will look forward to the range report, as I'm interested in that upper myself. If you don't mind my asking, what did it set you back?

$495 from their website.  As of right now they don't have a shipping charge yet but they will add that eventually.

I think you'll be very happy with it. I'm very impressed with the overall quality of the new Rock River Arms LAR-9, 9 MM Carbine we bought. Excellent fit and finish throughout the whole weapon. I think with the AR-15 market becoming so vastly competitive, these companies cannot afford to let their quality control slip the least bit. All it takes is one bad rifle to send a customer to another supplier. Once a consumer loses faith in a brand, that company has lost them forever. Bill T.

all means, let us know how it goes with the RRA 6.8 upper. I have a Stag Arms version of the 6.8, but I haven't built up the lower for it yet. I did test shoot it on another lower, and got very nice groups.

One of these days I'll have to figure out how to download my phone's pictures so I can post them.

I decided to go with a Leupold VX-I 2x7 with the long-range cross-hairs.    This will be my third Leupold scope and I love them.

Which mounts are you choosing? I am torn about this. I have a B@L Elite 3000 on my .270, but I want to be able to put it on my AR as well, if I want more accuracy than the eotech can provide. I am tempted to go Leoupold quick release, but some of the one piece mounts have caught my eye as well. The smart move would be to buy a seperate scope, but this is just a backup option, better to spend $75 on mounts than $300-500 on new glass. There is also the question of high versus low mounts. What have you found in your research?

Went with the 1-inch hi-rise mount that is found on the link.  I have one for my Varmint RRA rifle and like it a lot.  Again I am not looking for a quick release SHTF rifle but a hunting rifle.

It arrived, now I just have to wait on my brass to get here.  I will post some pictures sometime this weekend.
