A WOMAN has been charged for trading her two-year-old daughter for a gun in Arizona, MyFox Phoenix reported.

MyFox Phoenix reports police were called to a home after receiving a tip that Tanya Nareau, 33, engineered the deal, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said a family friend who had the child confirmed that Ms Nareau asked for a gun in exchange for the girl.

Ms Nareau allegedly told the man that he would do a better job raising the child than she would - and that she couldn't buy a gun because she was prohibited by law from doing so.

The woman has been charged for unlawful sale of a child and solicitation to commit possession of a weapon by a prohibited possessor.
