Binoculars would be the best.. I need a really good small pair ..
I think that is a terrific gift..100 times better than flowers that just wilt and die..
The first time my old man had a midlife crisis, he took us on a rafting trip in the grand canyon for manly bonding when I was about 24. I hurt my foot second day out and had to pass on a lot of the hikes. This left me on the beach to flyfish/or help out the very comely cook who was ten years my senior. I like to cook. Day four, I saw a Mt. sheep and wished I had a pair of binocs. Blake said wait, and got out a pair of leicas. Very nice glass. She then mentioned they were one of the two gifts her, by then very ex boyfriend, had given her for her anniversary six months before. "First, he gives me these when he knows I like my Leuopolds better. Cheap bastard just gives them to me because he wanted to use them. That's why they're on this trip, as a spare. Then, two days later, I discover he gave me crabs. Had to get a full STD test. Only thing I insisted on in the settlement was these so he couldn't use them." The Quaker was comforting and supportive and still has warm memories of this trip and strangely complex feelings towards binoculars.

Survey says, don't give them to your spouse.
