Just got a new carry gun, lemme have your opinions!

Just bought a Rock Island 1911A1 compact in .45! OK, give it to me straight, lemme know goods and bads! I wanna hear it all. Range report will follow this when I get to it.  I want that WILSON so bad, I had to comprimise! LMAO! ;D

I can't speak for the compact, but thier goverment length is a good deal for what you pay for it.

Thx, Tab! You've been here about twice as long as I have, and I value your opinion! I get offended when folks call me a newbie, but I only post when I got something to say, or ask! I appreciate you and our "old" friends on here!

P.S. The compact is EXACTLY like the full size, just a shorter barrel.

so its a commander length?  ( 4.25" if its a colt, some are 4", but thats rare)

I'm used to a 3.25" to a 3.75",  but this is a true 4.0" barrel!

I don't know about the compact model, but the Gov't length model I used to own shot very well and never choked. I recommend them.

I wish I hadn't sold it, but I sold it as kind of a favor to a friend who was gun-less and needed a CCW gun. I sold it to him for what I paid for it so it was a wash for me.

I started out with an Astra A-90 in 9mm, then went to an A-90 in .45. which is a Sig-Sauer clone, but I think I needed to upgrade to a 1911/carry gun for IDPA, I think I made a good choice as I only shoot a gun I will carry. Help me out here folks, any RI fans?

The Govt Model is my every day carry gun.
1500+ rounds  with no trouble.
