A Compliment to DPH Arms, Brown Truck Arrived Quick
« on: April 01, 2010, 04:59:58 PM »
I have my Saiga AK-47, bought a few months ago, and changed the traditional rear stock for an Interfuse Tapco Adjustable. The fwd. handguard was a traditional rifle style and it didn't "jive" with the rear one.  So I wanted a Galil style more "AK" authentic one.

So I shopped around, local shops either didn't have it, or wanted way to much for it. Online was the same, until I found my way to dpharms.com

Price was right, cheaper than some of my other resources. I ordered it Sunday night, it arrived today. Matching Interfuse fwd. handguard.

NOW it just looks right,.... ;) Evil Black AK....Unlike billt who would just go buy 7 more, I'm happy with the tracking number, follow up phone call from Scott at dph, emails, and fast shipping. ;D

Will do business with them again.
And remember...when it comes to accessorizing an AK,,,,,well

If you have a Moisin, Saiga, or another variety of AK, they even sell ammo..and other "goodies".....

Very nice looking package, just give us a range report when the thousand yard seagull shooter comes in. We want porn and targets! (Anyone posting paula jones pics will be banned. I think I speak for the board here. ;D).

Hey, at least there wasn't those damn "toes" in the picture......

Now, the dilemma of converting it to take standard AK mags, or just bite the bullet, and stock up on a few more Saiga mags.

Thoughts?

I agonized (gee there's a shock) over this. The Saiga Forum has great advice and plenty of how tos if you're good with a dremel. The rifle was built to be converted. The Russians are many things, but stupid isn't one of them, it was built with a wink and nod at 922R. Hell, if you screw up you can buy a new one for $375 and the money you'll  save and versatility you'll gain by being able to use standard AK mags would seem to be worth it. Just make sure you have enough US parts, minus the mag to be legal, I'm not visiting you at Glades Correctional. ;D

FQ and your 922r stuff... :P

Let's review:

Rear Stock- American
Fwd. Stock -American
Prom-Mags count as 3 parts,  American
Sure-Fire mags, the same.

that's 5 American parts, and if it even matters in S. Fl, you only need 4.

I have read that a feed ramp "attachment" must also be installed in the receiver, as standard AK mags, feed from a lower angle.

tw, who has yet to see those stealthy 922r enforcement guys.... 8)

TW you are good with US mags, but convert to AK mags and you lose three US made parts. As much as you and I might butt heads, I don't want to see you in jail over a $400 rifle. If you actually do have to shoot someone with it, belive me those "922 R" guys will be crawling up your ass. Do as you will, just don't say you weren't warned and please do go to the Saiga forum.

are the AK's over there mostly full Auto's  or Semi's   like the SKS's  we used to have :(

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can’t do is ignore them

All semi's Phil, and thanks to 922R which is a Rule imposed by the Bureau of Alchohol Tobbaco and Firearms, as opposed to a proper law, imports must meet a "sporting purposes" test. The deal is, as stupid as this sounds, that x percentage of imported parts must be American made. I'm almost too embarassed to keep typing, but in the interest of Trans-Pacific relations I will. Let's say you have your standard Saiga (semi-automatic) AK. Now, that's illegal with more than a ten round mag. BUT, put a US made stock with pistol grip (2 US made parts), a US made hand guard (one US part) and a US made trigger group (five or so US made parts),OR use US vs combloc mags (3 US parts) all identical and functionally the same and its perfectly legal.  :o Thing is, have less than 5 and you're looking at years in club fed. An American trigger group and you're ok, a Russian one and you go to jail? WTF? I mock your gun laws, but 922r is our own head scratcher. It makes zerosense, but such is life. We're still better off than y'all, but we do have our own fair share of idiots in power.
