they are saying 2 tone of oil now  and think the oil may reach Rockhampton beaches tomorrow

there in over 900 tones of oil in it,  and they are worried that it will break up   then it will hit the fan

she's a bulk carrier so the only oil on board is her fuel, and 900 tons is not much. in fact a few oil booms stretched around the ship and you can pump the oil of the top of the water. (I used to work for a salvage company that did this sort of thing.. recovery, not spills). also, coal can be lightered onto barges, this should be an easy cleanup. do hope they do it right the first time.

problem is  they have not from what I have seen used the booms around it  and have plains spraying dispersants

they also say there are a couple of tugs on there way out there to stabilise it

no doubt about that, but then ships are guided by deck officers, not engineers...  ;D (had to put that out there) all they have to do is stay on the bridge and not run into anything... ooops  you see that guy? he came out of nowhere! remember, the sea is huge and they have radars to see even further, yet they still manage to foul up like this. how hard can it be to look out the window and steer for 4 hours at a time? this concludes my deck officer rant, thank you...
