For once I agree with Eric. The Farm bureau and the Chamber of Commerce are not exactly liberal strongholds. There are two lies told about immigration. The first is told by corprate/farm (mostly GOP), types. It is that Americans won't do those jobs. Wrong, they won't do them for those wages and under those conditions. Clean up your act, stop running sweat shops, and hire Americans. Then pass the cost on. We'll still pay for your product. The second lie is that its about racism, this is the liberal line, but its paid for by the business interests who want a moral defense. Mosy of us don't care if you're from Guatemala or Germany, we want you legal or we want you gone and we want the guy who knowingly hired you in jail. The immigration debate is about greed and gullibility on the one hand and taking care of your own and national soveriegnty on the other. The enemy here is greed. Capitalism is great so long as it obeys the law, but it when it flouts it through mortgage fraud, ponzi schemes or hiring illegals, not so much. The folks who import, encourage and knowingly hire illgals, and fund groups like La Raza to cover for them are engaged in an ongoing criminal enterprise and should be treated accordingly. RICO any one? We had to pay for GM, we could own Hormel, Hampton Inn and every third landscaper in this country for free. We'd only need to do it about a half a dozen times to get the bastards undivided attention. Its all about money. Take the profit out of hiring illegals and people won't. If no one hires them, they won't come. I mean how many Mexicans immigrate to Haiti? None. Why? There are no jobs. Make it the same here.
