Fred will not be the nominee
« on: January 19, 2008, 08:25:43 PM »
72% of precints reporting and Fred has 16% of the vote and is locked in a battle for third with Romney.

Fred will not be the nominee. I did not hear his speech but some of the blog comments on NRO and Redstate are reporting it sounded as if it was a "wrap up". Even if Fred doesn't drop out he will not be the nominee. Some on Redstate are holding out hope a brokered convention would turn to Fred but I think a brokered convention is unlikely and that the convention would turn to someone who couldn't win even more unlikely.

If Huckster loses tonight that takes him out of the race I think. Leaving McCain and Romney to take on Guiliani in Fl. If McCain wins tonite that probably makes it a McCain/Romny race as I think events have left Guiliani in the dust so to speak.

If Huckster wins that makes it a Huckster/Romney race to take on Guiliani in Fl. A SC win would validate Huckster and give him standing in Fl and on super Tuesday for the bible belt to get behind him.

I don't see a brokered convention. Huckster or Romney or McCain or maybe Guiliani will "break out" and will win the nomination outright.

All I can say is BLOAT because if FT is not the nominee then the Dims will win and it will be time to fish or cut bait.  It will be ugly cause I will not vote for ANY evil and you can take my firearms from me bullets first.

No brag, just fact.

He's been saying that since about 3 days before Fred announced his Candidacy.

Seems to me,he thinks this is the "Gun Owners against Fred" Forum

Mechanic/Jim,

Notice that Thompson is in single digits in Fl. Just where is FDT going to start winning?

Yes, I became disillusioned with Fred some time back. I kicked him some cash early on but then "lost faith" so to speak. Time has proven me correct. A guy can't be prez if he can't win votes. And a guy who comes in third after twice going "all in" just doesn't have what it takes to win votes. AND IT IS THOMPSON'S FAULT HE ISN'T WINNING. Fred allowed the Huckster to come in and take the fundamentalist vote. Huckster should have been a nobody who dropped out after Ia. But because FDT is a lousy campaigner he allowed Huckster to come in and become a player.

As time continues voters will focus on those who have WON races, you know, McCain, Romney, Huckster. People will naturally see their choices coming down to those three, and maybe Guilaini if he can win Fl.

The race is now effectively over for Fred. It doesn't matter if he stays in or drops out the race is over.

By super Tuesday's end a (R) nominee will be picked. I hope for a miracle and Fred gets the nod but being realistic I am preparing to support the (R) nominee regardless of which was my favorite pick from the start.

At a wedding the Best man and the Groom are never the same man. But the Bride (us voters) get the same thing everytime

........In politics seldom does the best man win

It seems to me we get what we (as a nation) deserve.  The good (us) get to suffer with the bad (them other guys) when the bad get the say on things.

It's not over for Fred yet.  He needs to hang in...in my area people are just getting to the point where they are willing to say 2 words about the presidential race.  There are quite a few months left so there's no need to write off mispeak, history, sickness and/or scandal as vehicles to overtake the supposed front runners.

My work this week is to write to the head of the Republican National Party with condolensces (sp??) for losing the presidential race by taking the 2nd Ammendment people for granted and for for stabbing us in the back through the RINO proxy of George W. Bush.

Remind me and I'll post whatever it is I end up writing this week.   I'm also going to write to my two US Senators, despite the fact they are two of the strongest 2nd Ammendment supporter in Congress, to ask them to remind the Republican party leaders that the appreciation for stabbing gun owners in the back will be shown at the ballot box.

The Republican Party needs to know, no they need to be certain, that they can kiss off our votes by running the wrong guy.  If you guys are called by a polling organization, please make a statement supporting the 2nd Ammendment and totally refuting all options that are not 2nd Ammendment friendly.  I can guarantee that if 20 or 30 guys out of 1000 refuse to follow the polling lead (would you favor Rudy, Mitt or John--without mention of Fred or Huck) and have the same story the impact of consistency to refuse to answer a simple question for a principle will get back to the "handlers".

NO! Sorry, as been stated on here before and as stated by Rastus above.

NO, I will NOT support a candidate just because he has an 'R' after his name.  You are conservative or not and will get my vote or not.  As of this time the only person left in the race that I will vote for is Fred.

I was recently called by the RNC about making a donation to them. I told them flat out that I would only give my hard earned money to a PRO 2nd amendment candidate and I named Fred Thompson as one who would be getting my money. I told them that they would NEVER win by running Dem Lite candidates against the real thing. I also told them that they need to start listening to what Fred has to say because thats what the country wants. They were unable to comment. I thanked them for their time and hung up.
I have to admit that I felt a lot better venting to them.
