As I get older I find that I am more offended by hypocrisy than anything else.
Right there with you. On the one hand, as a Southerner, I was raised to respect Hypocrisy. (We call it good manners down here). As my great granddad said, "There are plenty of reasons to kill a man. There are none to be rude to him." ( God I love that quote)

I'll even accept that "honest" hypocrisy, if there is such a thing, is useful. Its the tribute vice plays to virtue. We know we won't live up to our moral standards, but we praise those standards anyway because we know how important it is to have them.
On the other hand, I find myself much more inclined to respect an honest asshole, than one who wraps himself up in moral righteousness. Give me a radical muslim who says I want to abolish the Constitution and impose Sharia anyday over one who plays the victim card and claims Sharia as a "voluntary alternative social contract" (and yes thats a real quote from an English imam). Give me a pro-illegal activist who talks about reconquista over one who just tells me I'm a racist for wanting to enforce our laws. Your BS isn't going to fool me and I'd just as soon you just tell me the truth. I may not agree with you, hell, I may even shoot you if it comes to that, but at least I'll respect you for being an honest man. I think that as we get older, our BS meters are so badly strained by living in our society, that we just set them to BS, or No BS, and stop worrying about the fine gradations.
