We have a long tradition of Generals being relieved because they did not know when to shut their pie holes, MacArthur is one example, McClellan's poor performance at Antietam was simply an excuse to rid the Lincoln of a General who was campaigning for President from the head of the Army of the Potomac.
I agree with Ratcatcher, while I agree with what was said about those "Striped pants sissies" in DC, if we are to maintain the integrity of the Republic then the military MUST remain aloof from the political issues of they day
