Boy Scouts at Jamboree boo the Obama pre-recorded message

Well, I'm torn on this one.  On one hand (as a Cub Scout leader) I believe that we should act civil and respectful of our leadership...we can disagree but shouldn't drop to the tactics of the "progressives".  On the other hand, while I can’t say I condone it, I certainly understand the sentiment.

Obama stiffed them for important stuff like a daytime television show and some fundraisers. Hardly a way to win the respect of future voters.

I agree with the split feelings on this.  These are our youth and our future, and I would want to teach them the ideals of respect.  Boy Scouts, along with my parents, grandparents and uncles, is where I learned the importance and tough task of respect.  However, this shows how far Pres. BHO has dropped from the public. 

Not only has he lost the respect of much of the general public, but he has shown total disrespect for us.  The idea that he would take the Presidency on the road of gossip shows is bad enough, but to snub groups of all kinds to do it is shameful.  The Boy Scouts aren't the only or the last that he will do this to.

Back to the beginning of my post - Now parents and Scout Masters face the tough task of putting this event in perspective.  They need to find a way to restore respect for the office in these young men, and they need to try and teach these hurt young men to think critically and not become future ranting fringe elements after being treated this way.  A tough job, but the fact they are in Scouts shows they have what it takes if they all work together ... and the current "leaders" don't keep cutting the tracks in front of them.
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.

Tough call on this one. 

If the President were spitting on folks, I'd not expect anyone, in uniform or not, to show him respect.

The booing was not for his speech nor for his being President, it was for the disrespect he showed them by sending the recorded speech while he was off with Whoopi and crew.

Had he been there in person and given a speech with which they totally disagreed, I doubt there would have been booing.

BHO acted with disrespect and he got it in return.

I am willing to bet that when the vid first came on they were respectful and standing silent.  When the man appeared is when they started to boo.  That is perfectly acceptable to me.

Well put, Haz. I dont really think that you can tell a kid to "respect the office" while the POS in the chair is disrespecting them. This was not just their yearly event either, it was their centennial. Quote Joe Biden: Its a big fu-cking deal.

Those kids are not stupid. I also dont think it had too much to do with politics as much as they probably knew that he was snubbing them to go on The View. I dont think they were pissing on the presidency and America as much as they were booing Dear Leader.

I would concur with Hz and Eric.  I don't believe they're disrespecting the office of the POTUS.  And even if I'm wrong, the current occupant of that office has shown it more disrespect in the past 2-1/2 years than the Boy Scouts are capable of.
