Admittedly, I have a flashlight fetish, I have a large collection, from Streamlight, Insight technology, surefire and no name, I have done a lot of LED conversions on these lights, and have some pretty strong opinions, I recently put a Terralux conversion with a Cree LED in my rechargable streamlight stinger xp, it is awesome, used to charge the light once a week, now every other week, and the light is white and bright, I use it everyday at work, in my left pocket I carry a surefire, L1 lumimax, has a 10 lumen and 60 lumen capability, 10 lumens you can read something in your car, like a map, and not get night blindness, hit the button harder and you can see across the street, it was a xmas gift, and the first set of cr123 batteries lasted a yr. I don't use it everyday, but carry it everyday. When I hunt, I always carry 2 lights, 1 to track game, and if I did not find it in 45 minutes, the 2nd, gets me back to square 1. Nothing worse than 45 minutes getting deep in the woods, and your light go's dim. I will be the 1st to admit modern well made good rep lights are too high, but sometimes you want the best, I am 1 of those.
I have been saying for yrs, some company is going to produce the 1st high quality LED for the home, if we can figure out who it will be, invest heavily, it is coming.
Another xmas gift was a surefire Echo knife, 300.00 bucks, I will never carry it or use it, my cold steels and spyderco knives will do fine, the friend who gave the surefire stuff, gets the stuff free for evaluation for magazine articles, the same as Michael does on a lot of items. Too bad they only gave him 1 of the 300 lumen weapon lights. But I think his best hookup, is Black Hills ammo, whenever he does an evaluation or article on a fire arm, he just calls, and they send him 1k rounds of whatever, of course Black hills is great stuff, and he never fails to mention that fact.
