Its still a bad way to make a living, but its how Jesse justifies it. He thinks, maybe correctly, "These are racist SOBS and they won't get better unless someone makes them. Why not me? And if I get paid, its still for a good cause". I'm not even sure he's wrong all the time. Still, its not the way it ought to work. ADA law suits? There was the "rent-a-gimp" trade in Fl. for a while. Basically a lawyer would hire a guy in a chair and sue all the older buildings he couldn't access. Pure BS.
On the flip side? If it were someone who could have easily made them compliant and didn't, or who hired illegals? Why not sue them? There are certain federal laws that rely on private sector enforcement. No criminal penalties, they just leave you open to law suits if you don't comply. The idea is they don't create a bureacracy and and there are no penalties until someone complains and can show they were injured. In theory, I don't have a problem with this as it saves tax dollars and doesn't add another layer of government. It is a slippery slope though.
